Just because you find that life's not fair, it doesn't mean that you just have to grin and bear it

I have really been obsessed with this song lately, despite not having watched the musical itself. I think the lyrics truly resonate with me from lots of different aspects. From thinking that life can get better when "I grow up", when the reality is far from that, to understanding how I shouldn't just bear in this suffering that I am experiencing in my life.

When I grow up, I will be strong enough to carry all the heavy things you have to haul around with you

When I grow up, I will be brave enough to fight the creatures that you have to fight beneath the bed each night

Understanding how the reality is far from what I thought as a child, when I just wanted to be an adult to have freedom really hurts. I guess it's a dilemma between having the perception that adults have a long extensive list of lived and living experience so they're "wise" vs wanting to stay as a child to not have any responsibilities at all (despite being abused every day, but then again back then it was prior to having the realisation that these are not normal...)
