I sometimes think of ways that are brutally painful and I never would do them.

One of the I can think of is to take a bath in hydrofluoric acid.

I saw a video of a guy who tried to shoot himself with a shotgun. Aimed it up into his chin and blew his whole face off, no nose, mouth, eyes were almost out but he was definitely blind by that point. Didn't touch his brain at all and he was still conscious and moaning and screaming in pain. Could see his breath coming out of where his windpipe would've been connected to his mouth. Now I'm pretty desensitised to these types of videos but that one stuck in my mind. He survived the whole thing, and had surgery to close up where his face would've been, only had a small hole with a tube where his mouth would've been.

The standard operating procedure for this kind of thing, along with botched hangings and perhaps all suicide attempts, should be to humanely finish the job.

Yep as if he wasn't in enough mental pain, now he's probably in a lot of physical pain too and I doubt he's glad to be alive. Lost 4 of his 5 senses, his quality of life severely diminished.

I tend nightmares in which I get drown myself more than once and the feeling of not being able to breathe makes me panic. I hope never to experience that in my real life.

Yeah,that vid was fucked up. I have no idea how he didn't pass out from the shock of everything. No doubt some annoying ass pro-lifer will look at that shit and rejoice in the fact that he gets another chance at life now. Like they do with all the failed suicides who are either disabled/disfigured and are clearly using a high amount of drugs just to get through the day.
