Help ligature strangulation question

so up until now i have not been able to find my "sweet spot", and every time i try ligature strangulation i've always gotten that head popping effect, and my vision never blacks out despite me holding the ligature for 30+ seconds? and assuming that means your carotids aren't properly compressed, i was wondering if you could still die as long as you go on with it? i wouldn't mind a couple minutes of discomfort to end it all tbh

also i'm basically following everything from the ligature strangulation megathread

edit: additionally i've been using one sock for the front of my neck, but i see many people use two socks for each side of their neck, is that more effective?

I'm running into the same issues, so I'm no help. But what do you mean about the sock? Like rolled up between the ligature and your neck?

what i've been doing is following the megathread, where they use one sock between the ligature and the front of the neck but i've seen other people use two socks on the sides of their neck, something like this:
