Murder charges were withdrawn. The Supreme Court also declined to clarify when assisted suicide charges could be upgraded to murder. So instead it appears according to the article he will plead guilty to 14 counts of assisted suicide.

Well maybe I am a little surprised charges weren't upgraded to murder. No one's really stopping the Crown from doing so. They only said they feel like they can't. But, this outcome also makes sense

Ahh I was wondering why the trial didn't go ahead last week as I'd heard it was supposed to. I kept looking for updates but obviously they were working out a plea deal. Murder charges were insane for this and completely unprecedented. I'm sure the families will be furious though. So much for certain pro-lifers calling him a "serial killer"-sanity prevails at last!

Maybe. That seems so wrong to give the families false hope he might actually get sent down for murder though when it clearly wasn't ever going to happen.

@Dot good points. I'm glad the families won't have to go through a trial. I saw a headline saying he'll most likely still get a harsh sentence, but it was behind a paywall so I couldn't read it. Expect they'll be looking to make an example out of him.

I imagine it's harder to bring murder charges against sales to adults. Although- they would likely still push for the mental illness/ mental incompetency angle. I suppose I'm somewhat surprised if they aren't pushing harder on the few sales he made to minors though. I imagine that's why sellers are keen on getting proof of age.

The entire Kenneth Law situation proves again that the Epstein-class loves to show us that we can go fuck ourselves

Wouldn't be surprised if they order some russian airstrike on the DSL operator next.

We are only worth shit if we make profit for someone else. Thinking about exiting this is like an insult to those child touching billionaires

Yeah I wouldn't be at all surprised if he gets the max sentence. That other guy selling SN in Wales got a long sentence and that's with UK sentences which is usually lenient plus he only sold a few packages. This case is hundreds of packages. And yeah UK will probably go after KL at some point too although I have NO idea how that works.

It was this article-

@Dot oh yeah I meant in general we are soft on criminals not just in assisted suicide cases. At least we used to be. Have no idea how we compare to Canada. Be really interesting to see what sentence they go with.

Thanks for the link it's a really interesting article.

Given the severity and breadth of Mr. Law's alleged actions, Ms. Helps said prosecutors can seek a long sentence even without the prospect of a life sentence. There could be sentences of at least seven years on each of the 14 charges of aiding suicide and, subtracting time served, a total sentence of 15 to 20 years in prison.

Woah...
