Is it true that self-asphyxiation is a simple way to die?

I just came back from my second inpatient stay after again suffocating myself with a belt. When I discussed this with one of the nurses, she said this was serious because it's actually a very easy way to die, or something to that effect. Is that really true?

I don't find it easy. But they are of the mindset to steer you away from this behaviour.

People die all the time accidentally from erotic asphyxiation. You stop blood flow to the head(it supposed to make you high in a way) for estimated 8-15 seconds and you will pass out. It the same principles of hanging. But not the same as strangulation.

No, not necessarily. The way I was doing it, it was simply self suffocation.

There must be a proper way to do this right and pass out?

If you cut off the flow of blood to your brain, you got MAYBE 10 seconds before you're out. And there's no instinct that kicks in if the airway isn't blocked. You can still get revived if you're not breathing, blood flow is a whole different beast

So in sum, so long as you aren't discovered, you will ultimately die?

And again, is there an ideal way to surely cut off the blood flow properly?

Its not easy to succeed that one, for me atleast. Maybe by accident..

It's a You're dead in under a minute kinda fast.
Take a free jujutsu class or watch a lion hunting a gazelle. They both use the big tube on the right side of your air tube

I remember seeing news of a college student in my country dying in that way back in 2013. He was transvest and put bra, dress on his body when his body was found.
