In the spirit of the thread title and the comment made by @GravityUtilizer, I should point out that, technically, they are also not "abbreviations." I'm not trying to be "that guy." I just think it's cool knowing the difference between abbreviations, acronyms, and initialisms. ^_^ Why do I think that's cool? Because I am a giant nerd.
