Not like fucking floppy disks or anything like that, but like I really enjoy my VHS-C camcorder from my childhood. The battery sucks on it (even after replacing it) but it makes me happy, and I've filmed so many film diaries from 2023 through late 2025 on there (for now! I'll probably make more) and as much as I think that some of my family members do "love" me in the obligatory sense (they have to but don't necessarily want to), they won't bother actually trying to see what's on those despite the fact that they say shit like "Renaissance Autumn 2023" instead of "Christmas 1999".
But fuck it. It's fine. It's not like people will find every. single. piece. of media, that we leave behind, so much banal stuff will be lost, and that's fine. But goddammit, I think that my old-school camcorder tapes have value. There's plenty of art on them and also even, fuck, no matter how hard it would be to actively watch wouldn't they want to at least have some documentation of how I felt and was feeling and acting before I CTB?
I dunno. I hope this makes sense. I've imbibed just a wee bit more than I intended, as per usual. I hope all of y'all are doing alright tonight, at least hanging in there. And for those of you who aren't, I just hope that you feel peace and freedom no matter how it may manifest.
