I would probably go back to age 14 or 15. Not because anything unpleasant happened then, but because that's around the time I think I'd be able to understand and apply instructions from my future self.

I'd tell myself to get a piece of paper and write down everything I say. What to avoid, what to pursue. Just all the lessons I had learned. What happens in my future although the same won't apply to them. It'll be a different future altogether.

13, just before I was taken with a psychiatrist, I would tell my old self to avoid at all cost talking their drugs and psychiatry in general, I would tell my old self what to avoid, what to pursue, will teach her important lessons, provide her with important resources etc... and if possible I would keep the control in case something happens and I have to go back again. Having a time machine is what I desire the most and constantly day dream about traveling back to the past and changing it. Avoiding psychiatrist would have saved my life :(
