Discussion If euthanasia became a universal basic human right, and was widely available how many % of the population would kill themselves?

I would say that around maybe double or triple current suicide rates. There wouldn't be too much of an increase over what we have now because there are still so many that fear death.

I don't think too many. I think a lot of people would take comfort in knowing it was available, though. In fact, knowing that people cared enough to help them with a peaceful death would probably help people hang on longer. So much of ctb is about feeling alone.

95% would use it. Why so many? Because most will live to old age, sure, but as soon as they fall apart and the death process starts, they will want to end it just like us younger suicidal people here, because at that point even the most pro-life person will know that hope is now useless and death is imminently unavoidable anyway. The medical practice already helps people ease into death with medication. The rest 5% (not exact figure) will have died by accidents before they can make a choice.

Probably like 1% or 2% at most. At the end of the day, most people value life so much to where they would rather suffer horrifically from cancer until their last natural breath. I truly have no idea why most people here think that there would be a massive suicide epidemic if assisted suicide is legalised. A lot of people value life so much to where they are willing to suffer eternally for it

Governments wont allow their slaves an easy exit. It will only ever be avilable to the sick/old.

Absolutely agree with this. it would be such a relief knowing the option was available. I bet there would be a really long waitlist though.

The suicide rate would only go up slightly. Maybe 5 percent at the most. Most people aren't suicidal. They wouldn't kill themself if euthanasia was available to them.
