yesi t's horrible, no shit M'am, but you know what's even more horrible?
if they continue to suffer.

that was the most mainstream bullshit i saw in a long time, glad i don't pay for tv channels anymore if that's the shit they show.

It's all scripted garbage. I'm not even going to bother. Also, cops are pretty used to all this stuff. Hard to imagine one crying. Maybe if she was a rookie.

I mean irl a lot of the cops i've met looked really sad, uhm and there was this one who was a mum who's kids had mental health problems and she looked really sad talking about it. I hate to imagine what it would be like for someone like her to have to find the corpse of another family's kid.

In general death is sad, and, generally the more you're around death the more likely you are to end up with ptsd. Even if it's from someone killing themselves death still hurts a lot.

Oh also i'm super curious about the documentry, what points did it make about us and stuff. It's probably gonna try and make us out as some kind of death cult instead of a bunch of sad people who don't wanna feel alone.

Yeah, that's probably it. Quite a few people want the site taken down. So the first step will be to control the narrative. Make us out to be bad or Harmful.Makes their job easier.

just watched the whole thing and now im confused
he clearly took SN but his parents described the scene as painful and him having seizures and calling for help out of regret
doesnt that contradict what we know of SN? the almost painless way to die?
also why was methylene blue not used? if he called for help cops shouldve arrived and gave him methylene blue in time

most of the stuff you see on tv is fake or excagerated... they probably lie, because they think it will prevent others from trying it.
but what do i know

I'm a bit stunned at some of these responses. While I fully agree that the documentary has an agenda (the family lost a child to a suicide forum, they're not going to have room for sympathy and I don't blame them), ignoring that a) suicide is inherently horrifying to survivors and b) that horror is entirely human seems excessively callous.

It can be both true that the family is deeply scarred by the loss of a young person who changed his mind while attempting (that being worthy of respect) and that this site is more nuanced than the documentary makes it out to be.

I know we're mired in death here, but let's not forget to have some compassion too. That's my two cents.

Seizures aren't uncommon because of the oxygen deprivation. It might have looked painful as seizures do look painful but people aren't conscious by that point afaia. People do sometimes call for help because it can take 15 or so mins to go unconscious which gives time for regret and SI. SN isn't a well known method and it's unlikely they had methyln blue on hand.

damn why does it only have 300 views

Because it's a shite programme by a publicly funded organisation which we're compelled to pay for if we've got a TV, whether we watch it or not.

i'm watching the rest of it right now, (as i said before, i stopped it at 2 minutes)

but yeah i'm watching the rest right now and OMGGGGGGGGGG,
this is such a terribly bad program.

they call it a cult. and say people encourage others.
simply not true whatsoever.

a cult, hahahahahahaha... i'm cracking up over here.
first of all, nobody searches up a suicide forum if they aren't already suicidal.

and then the sub title to the program is "killed by the internet".

no, if you wanna blame it on anything, then blame it on his depression and other struggles.

maybe he learnt about SN on here. i did. but so what? he has peace now and it was his life.
if he couldn't take any more pain, then i don't blame him for ending his own pain.

but that sort of logic doesn't apply to the BBC.

the problem is that whoever produced this crap has never gone thru much in life, it seems.
they have the notion that death is the worst thing ever.

no. suffering is the worst thing ever.

why else do pet doctors put down suffering animals all the time?

They had better get with the program.
If they think the mental health crisis is bad now they ain't seen nothing yet.
It's blatantly obvious that life has become a fate worse than death for a sizeable chunk of the human population and that the way we live now is toxic beyond belief.

Very tragic obviously, and condolences to his family, wish there was another way, but yes the grief is unbearable, just wish people would understand why places like this exist, it isn't just for people who despise existence(tho some do), it's a place where most of us don't feel like outcasts.

Why is the BBC so intent on spreading the government's fascist agenda? They are supposedly a news source, not an activist group. Why are they making yet another hit piece in the form of a purposefully darkened documentary fit with eerie music and gritty police footage? What do they hope to accomplish by making this? I hope this makes it clear that the BBC are now just a mouthpiece for the government that repeat whatever the government tells them to say verbatim. This is a laughable abuse of taxpayer money, a complete dereliction of journalistic integrity and another dangerous piece of radicalisation material, as to be expected by the corrupted BBC. I would suggest not even watching this to avoid increasing its reach.

I didn't even bother watching the video; I read the news. But they can make things up, exaggerate, and say false and meaningless things just to create alarm. The young man knew the consequences, and I feel for him. I hope he rests in peace. But he should have informed himself well and acted according to the guidelines and protocols so as not to put Sasu at risk. I'm not talking about him, but about many others who, because of him, trampled on us. And many minors at that time. If they want to take the tools to do something, you know there will be consequences, and you have to know that, but don't jeopardize the place where you got them. Many people who have done CBT even named Sasu in their letters. And thanks to them, we are in their sights. Did they get their peace? Yes, but don't be false friends

that title alone is such sensationalist garbage. :/

i found vlad's account on here and his postings paint a picture of an intelligent, empathetic young man who was tormented by his autism. poor guy... i relate to many of the struggles he described. given his age, though, i am inclined to wonder how the outcome could've been different for him. RIP vlad.

Some suicides might be gory, so seeing something like that might be shocking for cops.
Yeah I agree. Part of doing research before suicide is looking at gore pictures of successful suicides. All of them are not pretty and are traumatic to find. I think suicides via N, SN, etc. are the least traumatic depending on how long it takes for your body to be found

Regarding minors signing up, most 18+ sites require clicking a box that says you're an adult but pretty sure SS does more behind the scenes to prevent them.

I really think the onus should be on parents. Ultimately, parents are the ones providing internet access and the devices.

All the news articles about SS have me scared that my death might be used to try to take down this site. If I make a thread, I'll say that this site isn't to blame because it isn't. No one even knew me well enough to know my reasons why anyway. Kinda sad.
