So I've been going to this "Dealing with distress" group which teaches us like mindfulness and stuff like that. But when we were sharing out loud what kind of situations would be good to stop and take a step back, I opened up and said when I feel the urge to relapse with hard drugs or cutting myself. I felt stupid - cause everyone else was like "When I'm driving so I don't get mad" or "Trying to stop myself before snapping at my flatmate" or "making a todo list for my afternoon". Why tf did I share something much more serious?? I feel like no one in the group properly gets me

Everyone has their own problems they deal with and I certainly don't hope anyone judged you for what you said. You're there for the same reason they are I assume, for help dealing with distress.
If you felt like you overshared I get that feeling too. It's a kneejerk reaction for me most of the time and before I can stop myself the sentence has escaped my lips.
I don't think you have to dwell on it, you wanted help with something more serious and that's completely valid.
I know SaSu isn't exactly an ideal place to seek help with distress but one thing is certain and that's that there's plenty of people here who understands or want to understand how you feel. And I doubt anyone here would judge you for sharing. I certainly wont.

Yeah that's I like about this site - it's free and open with real people who understand my mental condition

Yeah it's the same reason I first came here. And it's the reason wy I keep coming back, no one on SaSu judges you and most people seem willing to help if they can.

Don't worry; deep down, we are all preoccupied with our own pain. Humans tend to be selfish or to believe that our own perspective is the "correct" one—at least as far as we are concerned.
When I hear about euthanasia, I am glad that people can make decisions about their own lives; however, that is just my view. There are religious or pro-life people who firmly believe that taking one's own life is wrong—a conviction they regard as an absolute truth.

For the most part, people deal with common or easily solvable problems; however, if you are talking about drugs or self-harm, that is naturally a delicate matter—it isn't simple to address. I struggle with a porn addiction myself, and it isn't easy to deal with. It's not that I enjoy it or that I'm some pervert who thinks only about sex; these are personal issues that, in a way, developed as coping mechanisms for my existential pain or even just plain distress.

Until some one can experience your pain, they'll never be able to understand you. The life you are living is unique to you. We all can understand you because most of us are going through similar state as yours if not the same.
These meditation groups, distress groups, even psychologists, most of them are not sufficient enough to deal with our situation.
One of my psychiatrist recommended me to see a psychologist. As I'm a counselor myself by hobby, when I talked to her, i was the one in control of the conversation and she was not able to lead me out of the state. The reframes she tried were so bad😂 that'd never work on me. I also consulted India's number 1 hypnotherapist and paid hefty fees for that, it didn't help me at all.
Sooo, you can see, not a lot of ppl can bring us out. It's us and only us who can talk ourselves out of it or into it.

Yeah it sucks how I feel trapped in a hole. A prison of my own mind. I hope you eventually get better and benefit from counseling

If you want, you can bring yourself out of the mess. Reading books help a lot.
Thank you🫂🥰❤️
I can get better if i want, but i have given life so many chances that i don't want to get better now. I just want to go.
As such, as i have counselled people in the past out of hobby, i don't have any degree or diploma to be a psychologist, but just by my sheer intention, I help ppl out of it, so i kinda know what sugary words and frames I need to use. ,😂

I really don't know if I can drag myself up out of this mess. I have been in so much pain for so long it just has worn me down over the years, but I'm still only 22. I'll keep going to therapy, but I doubt much can really fixed up my fucked mind

If your therapist is good, it will work out . You can also buy some good self help books that empower your mind
The truth is our mind and body is very powerful. It can achieve anything. Tesla just used the power of his subconscious mind to create so many inventions out of which he got just 60+ inventions patented. He was not rich at all. If he had the funding, he could have given the world free energy and he claimed he could teleport people as well just like radio waves. Wright brothers thought of creating airplanes. Similarly, there are many marvels of the mind in self help space and scientific discoveries.
