I know there are millions of people out there who claim to be against suicide, but I can't help but feel that they're more "anti-suicide" than they are "pro-recovery". Suicide is seen as this awful, horrible thing, but there are very few people who are willing to actually help out the mentally ill. They'll stop you from killing yourself, but they don't care for you as a human being.
I've known multiple people who've killed themselves. If I asked around now, everyone would tell me that it's awful they killed themselves, and that they would've been there if they had asked for help, but none of them tried to help when they were still alive. I hate that in order to be taken seriously as a suicidal person, you have to be a morally perfect, conventionally attractive person. The second you do something society perceives as "bad", you lose all credibility and people will no longer want to help you. If you show any traits of your mental illness that aren't just the over glorified parts, you are deemed "unworthy" of help by the same people that are supposedly so "against suicide".
You could live the most traumatizing life possible and there will still be people telling you that you're a horrible person for your trauma responses. The same person who jumps at every opportunity to mock the mentally ill will tell you how against suicide they are.
I apologize if this doesn't make sense, it's 3am and I am so exhausted from people pretending to care about suicide.
