My Great Guilt

Recently my father has passed away by euthanasia after a very painful fight against cancer. A lot of my family members, although they were devastated as is expected, were also glad that he had access to euthanasia, and so was I of course. They said it was great political progress for our country.
What deeply angers me is that those same fuckers were the people giving me shit for trying to ctb all those years ago ? How can they favour euthanasia but not suicide ? Because yes, euthanasia is suicide. They're the same fight. Why won't they let me end my awful awful suffering ?
Why can't I have anything in this life ? It feels like everyone is against me and that provokes so much sorrow and rage inside of me.
I really miss my dad

If your suffering is "mental" and not "phisical" most people won't really understand.

Cancer is painful and it's known, thats why.

Also, my condolences.

I think also bc being alone and being excluded from normal things isn't understood by most people in the same way as cancer. Everyone thinks of cancer as a terrible thing. But at least when u have cancer people feel sorry for you and want happiness for you. If you didn't go to prom and get invited to parties in high school nobody who has done those things cares or will bother being nice to you and inviting you to places to make you feel included.

I'd love for the people who have told us to just go to treatment and put in more effort and then all of our problems will be fixed to say the same thing to someone in a cancer ward. I wonder what people would think then.

I agree
My father was lucky enough to die peacefully and painlessly with his loved ones in his arms
Ill die violently, drunk and alone, being labelled selfish and cowardly by society
That's not to say mental problems are harder than cancer (no point comparing suffering)
But denying suicidal people of the peace my father has known is truly disgusting

world's a cruel place, mate. they don't want to offer anyone euthanasia because they think al of our problems can be solved by therapy and hard work because that's what media and everyone else tells them. maybe, someday, someone will be elected for government (in the U.S) who'll actually advocate for us miserable people, and we'll finally have access to MAID. we can dream. love an peace, mate.

I share the sentiments too; I get worked up and full of rage when I think about the inconsistencies of euthanasia, only for those who are terminally ill (while yes, the terminally ill can certainly benefit from it), but not for those who are suffering. One of the worst predicaments is being severely crippled and/or debilitated but not terminally ill, and being unable to physically carry out CTB by oneself, and that is a fate that I hope to never encounter...

Because they don't take mental illness as seriously as they do physical illness. If they can't see you suffering, they deny it and assume you aren't. Even if your pain is worse than someone with a physical illness. It's so stupid. They think your brain can't be broken or fail in the same way your body can. And even if they do understand that it's broken, they all for some reason believe that every mental illness can be cured. Maybe some can, but just like terminal illness or cancer, sometimes it can't and no amount of therapy or medication or treatment will fully solve it. It's unfair, but thats why we talk about it here where we understand that and allow ourselves to actually consider it without their commentary saying that suicide is always wrong.
