If any of you have experienced a hanging attempt, what did you feel like and how quickly did you lose consciousness? What did it feel like before you lost consciousness?
Or if anyone knows a source with stories of people who have survived suicide, I would be grateful for a link to such a source.

Collection of materials on suicide includes links to accounts from survivors; I haven't read many of them, so I don't know if there's anything similar in terms of content hanging is a reliable method, so few people can share that kind of experience. Also, try using the forum search there are many threads from people who (partially) attempted hanging as part of their preparation. I also chose this method to end my life, but it seems simple to me, and all the necessary information can be found internet. If you're unsure, you can check out the section on suicide on Gorecenter.

Once you have a certain number of posts (not sure how many), you can use the search tool at upper right

There are a number of reports on here from users that talk about it being relatively painless. Who knows if they're true.
Many videos online show little struggle. Not all but the majority that I've seen.
I've made small attempts. I'd say a small towel for padding helps. It seems. Seems like with psh there's a sweet spot to hit.
Only once did I let go. Many years ago. It was a necktie and broke too quickly.

In many cases, people don't even bother with planning: they simply grab a curtain, a sheet, or something similar that's handy at home, and tie it to a ceiling fan, a tree, or another easily accessible anchor point. The most interesting case involved a death that occurred in less than 3 minutes, despite the fact that the process had been stopped. At the bifurcation of the carotid artery at the level of the upper edge of the thyroid cartilage, there is an area the carotid sinus and pressure on this area causes a sharp slowing of the pulse or complete cardiac arrest, as well as vasodilation and a drop in blood pressure to zero. You can try to figure out for yourself how to properly activate this mechanism and whether it is even possible.

from my last experience its all a bit of a blur but it wasnt the pain i can't remember any pain it was just the pure panic i was fully at peace stepping off but once the si kicks in thats all i remember. I was only hanging for a few seconds but i honestly dont remember it hurting much

Can I ask what happened? Did you save yourself? Sounds like the panic induced something in you to end the process just wondering what.

I have a hard time believing a ton of the users claims. People seem to embellish their attempts on here to the point that they're completely illogical. Especially when it comes to hanging.

I don't know if they do this for the attention or what, but if you pay attention you'll start to notice this too.

Yeah basically i pulled myself up on my anchor point so i was holding myself up and managed to pull the rope to the side so i could get to where my chair was. A lot of adrenaline its all a bit of a blur not sure how i managed that

Sorry in advance for asking this. Could you please tell if the rope was placed just below the jaw or in the middle (on Adam's apple) or below the Adam's apple (near collar bones). Do you think if you wouldn't have intervened, it would have been successful.

Yep rope was right at the top where my pulse is as youre trying to compress the carotid arteries. I do believe it wouldve been successful if it wasnt for my si so im heading to the woods probably sunday so itll be harder to intervene

Thanks for the reply. I had read about this but there were posts that it is very painful. And if saved there are high chances of being vegetative as brain would be severely impacted. Also tried extracting some info from ai and it was very clear about the pain. Seems it is chosen cause it costs less , not because it's painless.

Yeah for me i wasnt in much physical pain but disclaimer i was on a lot of ketamine because i wanted to be numb to do this. I did feel pure panic from SI. If youre found within 30 minutes you can be saved and as your brain cells begin dying around the one minute mark anything after that is dangerous once it gets to 5 minutes if they do save you you will become a vegetable. If youre discovered itll likely be because of the convulsion phase being loud this usually happens around the 3 minute mark but doesnt always happen. Hanging definitely isnt painless but its only 10-15 seconds of pain before you pass out

Ohh..ok. Thanks! That was informative . I hope your issues get resolved and you don't have to resort to this painful method.
