• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I have a website that I'd like to stay up for as long as humanly possible, but obviously I won't be alive to pay the hosting and domain registration on it after I ctb. Any ideas? I wish there was some sort of service that I could hire in advance to ensure my site stays up after I'm dead but I can't seem to find any such service.

Why? What do you gain from having your website up and running if you are no longer here?

Maybe you know someone who would continue the project for you.

It will probably not work completely free of charge.

Maybe you can deposit an appropriate credit with the provider - which will then be used up over time.

Depending on the domain registrar you used, you should be able to pay for up to ten years in advance (Namecheap is an example of a host that will allow bulk payment, and this is what I will be using to keep my website up, as well). Some (?) registrars will also allow auto-renewal, but you would then have to make sure you have enough funds in your account, so that they can be automatically removed for automatic renewal.

Hosting is a different matter, and somewhat more difficult. The hosting service I am using now, for example, allows not only for bulk payment (paying years in advance), but also for automatic payment, similar to automatic renewal of the domain, where it will allow you to simply add as much money as you wish to your 'account balance', which will then automatically get removed for continued payment of hosting, without you having to manually take action. I am not sure, however, how other web hosts handle this, as it will presumably differ from host to host.

It's not about me. It's about warning other people so that they don't end up dead or crippled by the same FDA-approved Rx drug I fell victim to.

Thanks...yea, I prepaid my domain for the max of 10 years but my hosting company only allowed me to prepay until 2025. I have auto-renew on, but by 2025 my credit cards will all be cancelled. Which hosting company do you use? I wish I could trust someone in my family to keep my site up and running but I don't.
