I don't really do social media. I had snapchat for a little while, but don't use it a ton. Maybe like 30 people on there. I started posting some of my darker images from my phone. Metaphorically dark or memes with dark connotation. 8 of the 30 people unfriended me without saying a word

I am sorry that happened to you but not surprised, as, I guess, neither were/are you.
I don't use any social media platforms because I can't stomach all the fakery, aggressive advertising, obscene profit making, etc. But that's just me, an oversensitive, old-fashioned recluse. Clearly loads of people love social media, hence their constant growth. Or it might be how it all started ... and by now it is/ increasingly becoming, the other way around. The platforms growth left little if any other choice for people to interact. I am glad I will not be witnessing, at least not in this form, the descending of the 'brave new world.' Then again ... there was the time in human history when some prominent philosophers thought that printing books would erode learning because young people would no longer be required to rely on their memories! We (the most of us) change/adept as our times change. Those of us they don't, or find it difficult ... get to quietly ride into a sunset. Or so I hope!
I can understand. I remember back in school, philosophy class was hell for me. Even though discussions were encouraged, I made a lot of enemies for expressing my opinions.
It seems like people think that the things that a person believes must mean they are either a good or bad person and nothing more. Rather than a reflection of their experiences. Oftentimes, there's a reason why someone thinks the way they do, I don't think calling people that believe in controversial opinions bad tells the full story.
Of course, that doesn't mean I don't have things that I find morally objectionable. But I just wish people could sometimes be a bit more open to opposing experiences.
I am assuming the picture you posted is one of the things that got you unfriended. While it is controversial, it doesn't make you a bad person just believing this way. If someone has a shitty life, then they are going to think life is shit. It doesn't make them wrong because it has been true for them.
Sorry that people are like this to you. People can be so shallow sometimes, especially to things that are more on the dark side. The most friends I have lost are the times I told them my experiences. Sometimes, I just accept that some people will leave once I share my opinions. The ones that stay or don't judge are the ones worth keeping.
I wasn't surprised or even mad at it. Just thought it went along with the ideology that most people avoid us rather than getting to know who we are.

Those people are not worth being around. People can be very disappointing in general, it is why I would rather stay away from people. I see it as better to be alone. I wish you the best.
