I recently stopped trying to ctb with partial as I couldn't find my sweet spot. Lately I have read that a lot of other people had the same problem and it made me wonder what is the success rate of finding the sweet spot. Of course the problem with this poll is going to be that a lot of the people who found their sweet spot probably can't vote, but I still wanted to ask.

Totally understand. Something to remember: if you have carotid arteries, you have a sweet spot. There are many factors with the ligature used, rope placement, body position, name it. It took me near a month to find it, and an extra couple of days to do it consistently.

What ligature do you use? Also, any tips for finding the sweet spot?

You didn't ask me, but I found soft bdsm rope to be the best and the closest I got to finding my sweet spot was either under or above my Adam's apple.

The halfway point between the base of your neck and your Adam's apple.. The Wiki states one to two finger lengths below your Adam's apple. After that, it's a matter of having the rope compressing both carotid arteries. The main mistake I had made for weeks was compressing slowly and not without enough force. Do it quickly and stick it out for at least five seconds. When you know, you know.

If you feel your pulse beating against the rope, you're doing it right.

Feeling the pulse beating against the rope is an interesting point. I could feel that a few times, but only for a second. It also "felt right." If I ever go back to partial, I'll try to keep this in mind.

Use a belt, the widest you can find. I started to slip away really quick using it

The problem with partial suspension, and also regarding your question, is patience. If you have patience, you will find your sweet spot.

I was never able to find my sweet spot, probably due to having a short neck (almost no neck)

I used to be so motivated to end it all in that way (partial) that everyday after my daily walk I'd give It a try for about three weeks straight and then on and of for the next couple of weeks with mixed results, I'd spare only a couple of minutes a day on the attempt(s) and never try more than a couple of readjustments, eventually I gave up because I could never go beyond that last second or split second where I knew for sure that I was gonna pass out, It always felt unconscious or automatic when I would find myself standing again and I even felt frustrated with myself. Nowadays even the thought of trying again feels like trying to qualify for the next Olympics or climb Mt everest. I respect those who succeed because I feel like they've made peace with or mastered that animalistic raw self preserving system we have built into ourselves as humans. Finding that sweet spot just takes practice.

Just checked with a thin rope. I wrapped it once and pulled either side to tighten instead of tying any knots. I gagged and coughed but no dizziness or anything.

i struggled with partial for a long time - i'd be so anxious i couldn't hold my breath very long and when I was calm i'd press my neck into the rope as hard as i could and i just wouldn't feint. I'd pop all the bloodvessels in my face. For me it got to the point where it was so shitty always trying this or that, that I moved on to other methods XD. With more success but unlucky. onnnneeeeee daaaaaaayyyyyyy mayyybeeeee idk rn haha

one time I did a tourniquet but it was in a hospital and poorly put together and it got ripped off by unconscious me
