Do you have your own bedroom? If so I don't think it's a big problem. Just find a place where they won't look. It could be your wardrobe for example.
And if they find it you could say it's not real and it's just a part of some costume. Some fake weapons look very realistic, so maybe it could "save" you in the worst scenario.

I wish I could help but I really suck at hiding stuff.
To make matters worse, I live in a small apartment so, you could find anything very easily!
