Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

idk if i was taught well enough on banking, owning ur own debit card, a bank account and such. i feel this emmense amount of pressure and anxiety from it, im also worried about having to give my mum $150 i think montly. no job or income but ill get ibcome from 2 other things later on, one just requires a different process as its disability support.

ive alwaya imagined spending heaps of money on things i like but, idk how to save, budget or anything, idk how to make interest rates work. i want to be able to have a lot of money to be able to fly over to see my bf but, i have no idea on how id save up or choose what to pay for.

idk i just feel so lost about this and it feels like im under pressure when i think about things i want because, i can buy some things but, im scared of debts, i dont understand how u use a card. i wasnt able to be taught enough so i lack a lot of knowledge, it sucks.

This is such a scary situation to be in, I resonate with what you describe.

1) As for learning general personal finance, if possible, I recommend finding resources in your region through colleges/universities. Libraries also tend to have information if you can access one. If all else fails, research definitions online and possibly keep a notebook with what you have learned/notes on what next you're wondering about. It's a tough journey, but going through what you need to learn methodically will help you.

2) As for budgeting, create a priority list. It seems like you've already done this to an extent. Whenever you get income, divide it up between your financial responsibilities.

If you have any specific questions, please reach out!

This must feel so overwhelming and intense; it often occurs to me that society/school/college/etc. fails to each us essential and practical information such as this. I wish you nothing but the very best, and hope this helps even a little.

im nto sure where to reach out, im pretty lazy to ask my mum since my mind is so focused on something else atm but, i saw that the internet may go out for my area for some time (few hrs) and, im not sure how somebody would pay for using mobile data (?), like how much u may use. i remember in 2019/2020 i used a heap ton of GB worth on accident and didnt notice but, that was because i recivived a msg from apple or nodaphone nova phone thing but, i dont get those on samsung. do they auto charge u and take the moeny out immediatly?

thank you a lot though!! ill try to look for time for both of those!

As for being unable to ask your mum, that's a mentality I understand; sometimes it's hard to focus on this stuff.

Yes, mobile/cellular data for a phone is important if your power cuts out. Perhaps that incident from 2019/20 was a reward from the company you purchased the phone from?

Yes, they typically auto-charge and bill you. At least in my case, I'm under a monthly plan for 1 GB of data, which resets on the date I paid for the cellular data initially. Depending on your region and the phone you use, there are service providers you would contact to start your billing cycle. At&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon are popular ones where I am.

And depending on how often the power cuts out and how often you use your phone in locations without Wi-Fi, I would adjust how much GB of data you purchase. 1 GB is not a lot, enough for me to listen to music on the bus each day and text people sparingly, but that's it. In your situation, 5 GB or higher would be a safe choice.
