How do I say goodbye to my friends?

I know myself pretty well, so I have a pretty good idea about the direction my life is currently heading. And, it's not great. I don't really want other people to be dragged into that. So I need to say goodbye, somehow. Or maybe it'd be better to just ghost them? I don't really know.

I wish I could be completely honest with them, but I know I can't.

Yeah it's a difficult balance between spilling your heart out and giving them an indication that you're about to do something. A note is sometimes just the best way to go. Someone else here might have a better answer.

I'm planning to schedule an e-mail to go out one week after my death, explaining vaguely why I did it and what my final wishes are. Although I haven't really spoken to any of them properly for the last 6 months.

What is your relationship with them like at the moment? It could be viable to just sort of disconnect gradually and then leave them a posthumous message.
