hold on, pain ends.

what's your thoughts on this phrase?

see I can kinda relate to that as some days I'm happy and some days I'm sad. And if I can get through those sad days and hold on a little longer then maybe everything will be alright ?

Everyone's idea of hope is different.

Although they could be referring to it in general as in the better days/years.

To me, hope is wanting a better something. Better days. A better future. I dunno I'm rubbish with words :(

Yes I agree with you.

Tbh people can be in a complete state of despair whether it's perception or if it's actually that bad. It's important to distinguish but nonetheless

I think having hope and having something to look forward to that's important to people or sets of beliefs is what help keep people alive.

Although people have to see it for themselves at some point.

I think hope is part of SI, and it is really strong too. Even when you know for a fact that all hope is gone and there is no possible way for things to change....you still hope. It is how the human race has survived so long. Eventually there comes a time when hope means something different though. Now I HOPE I go to sleep and don't wake up. Even though I know that's impossible to happen so easily, I still hope

Back in the late 90's, at a time when I was having an episode bordering on suicide, someone quoted to me the story of "Solomon's Ring"...he wanted a ring that had an inscription to make a man sad when he's happy, and happy when he's sad...it was inscribed with the words "This, too, shall pass."

Pain doesn't end, it just gets slightly more numb until something else comes to either reopen the wound or bring new pain.

To me hope has been something that my mind creates to keep me holding on a little longer, but in the end it just causes more pain. Hope has always turned out to be false, and when I realise that, it hurts much more than if it had never been there at all.

Hope is nothing but a visage to despair. It's a flimsy face we slap on our moments of terror and trauma, it's that false light at the end of a dark tunnel. Hope is a taunt, hope is a tease, hope is a game we always lose.
Hope should be replaced with logic and reason, the reasoning of our odds in this world...bad, good? How likely are we to succeed, to fail? And for the pain to end?
Well, my pain has no end, hope does not spring eternal, and there is nothing to "hold on(to)".

I completely agree. I think my SI is just Hope :(
