The fact that places where the belief in Hell isn't so strong, like the EU and USA, have higher suicide rates than places where the belief in Hell is sort of strong, like the Middle east and Latin America, should really tell you something.

To me, this thread does not make any sense. Nothingness is preferable to absolutely everything as it is the absence of anything. The idea of there being a 'Hell' after this is a fictional concept. The only hell that exists is the one that we currently live in and of course it is way, way worse than nothingness. There is no comparison. If we live there is no limit as to how much we can suffer and how much pain we can feel and death is freedom from all that. Non existence is ideal. Existence is one big horrifying mistake.

A lot of times I prefer the idea of there being nothing after death.

I've listened to a lot of stories of near death experiences and overwhelmingly the people who have had these experiences - if you discount obvious hallucinations or people making things up - overwhelmingly the people who have had these experiences have that there is no hell. Not even for those who die by suicide.

Just a place that makes them feel as though they have truly come home. A home that is also open to those who die by suicide.

You have a life review and you have to get through that but they say that there is no hell and that the concept of hell is a man made thing to be used as a scare tactic.

There are religions that also teach that we all work through our karma after we die but that no one goes to hell and that hell does not exist.

I'm not religious but I believe in eternal life. I think this has been a place of learning. I know this is a bit matrixy but sometimes I think we're all living in that world already and that part of us inhabits this world for a while in order to learn. :-) But no, I don't believe in hell or nothing.

I keep telling myself there is no hell and think of it just like FuneralCry explains it. But it does keep my mind busy sometimes. Because then I start to link it too a game or test.. pfff if only I imagine . But, by nothingness, do you mean, ending in a blanc space alone or just a vanished up nothingness? Because then I personally would preffer nothingness
