Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

I just got done watching a video on youtube from a news channel about this website & the passing of a user from here.

What really got to me was the end of the video where the anchor said "Help is just a phone call away!".

So. Fucking. Disrespectful In my opinion.

We're living in 2021. Of course we all know about the countless suicide hotlines available. Most of us, if not all of us have used these in the past.. and yet we're still on here. I'm so annoyed with this rhetoric that suicide hotlines equal a solution to all of our problems. Like, fuck off. Most of us are too scared to even talk to our friends/families about whats going on with us, yet you expect us to call a random # to discuss our issues with a random stranger? & not to mention the fact that we'll get vanned if we explicitly state that we want to kill ourselves. & yes, i understand I'm posting on this forum sharing my views with a bunch of strangers but it's completely different then calling a suicide hotline.

I'm just so done. So done with people not understanding how difficult it is to be alive in this world when there is so much suffering.

It's a load of shit. On top of everything I have negative memories of hotlines and text hotlines. Gee thanks. Got horrible advice from one and it's just fucking so stupid. At the bridge is a sign: with help there is hope

Oh gee please help me by saying :gee sounds hard...do you have a plan to kill yourself? And then me lie and say no. That's sooo helpful.

Right? This x20000.
I've personally never used any of these hotlines, but I imagine it would be exactly like how you said it...

Personally, no suicide hotline would do anything for me. Talking to some stranger on a hotline will not make me want to live more or take away any of my problems.. I find it annoying how they are constantly all over the internet. People always say get help, but for many people they are in hopeless situations and nothing can help them. I wish society would acknowledge that and let us have a right to die. Many people will never be able to understand as they do not live our lives.

"People always say get help, but for many people they are in hopeless situations and nothing can help them. "
Yes. This.
Also, the fact that some people are unable to get help due to financial issues, accessibility, etc.

Most people do not understand and can only give these simplistic answers.
Bless their hearts...

The police and paramedics who came banging on my door after a ctb attempt yesterday said the same thing. That there was help out there, light at the end of the tunnel, all I had to do was talk to someone. Then when I explained my situation, they all got very quiet and that narrative fell apart quite quickly.

A little chat with someone isn't going to fix systemic issues. It isn't going to magically spawn familial, platonic, and romantic relationships. In the case of the deceased in the video, he had lost so many people he loved, and been stabbed as well. A extremely traumatising experience only few could fathom.

It is very hard for others to comprehend the toll that multiple losses take on a person. When you lose one person after another, it's heartwrenching. Even moreso, if you had few relations in the first place.

There's genuinely no help out there for ptsd either. I wish the hotline pushers would see between the trees and realize not every suicidal person is having a temporary spell of depression, with loving people by their side willing to comfort and support them, and everything to live for. That is not the case for the vast, vast majority.

Just talking won't fix these problems.

I am sorry you had a failure and a visit. Some good might come of it since it sounded like the responders did learn something from your situation.

I absolutely HATE when people are dismissive about my problems. Which is usually what happens when I seek out therapy.
Just talking does absolutely nothing.. and in my case, medication isn't helping either.
I've been out of the hospital since my first attempt since late March & the psychiatrist I see has prescribed me about.. 5 different medications to try now? None of them fucking help. And I tell him this every time I see him, yet he just prescribes me something else and "let's hope for the best!"
I'm fucking tired of trying new meds with various side effects that fuck me up every single time.
