i was with a person, who i had just recently met, and things were going great, (and also ended great).
but here's the thing... when we were out and about, browsing the city and having fun; we took a lot of selfies.

then like the next week we were back to just chatting bc we don't live close.

but anyway, we were looking at the pics, sending them back and forth to each other,
and the person told me i had "sad eyes".
bc we had also been talking about like depression or whatever.

but i'm glad the person told me that, because it kinda gives you sympathy or empathy.
that even on a fun great day, apparently my eyes still show the rough live i've had, even when i'm smiling.

it's like... it's a bad thing obviously, but it also kinda lets people know the seriousness of how much bad shit has happened to me.
that i can't even hide it behind a huge smile.

i can't explain it properly, but i'm glad they see it's true.
that i'm not just making up sob stories.
it's literally so true that i can't even hide it on my best days lol

A few times when I was a kid, yeah. I remember vividly one time when I was standing outside waiting to be picked up from school some kids asked me "are you sad? you look sad" when I was literally just standing there. Now I don't really don't get asked that (cause I'm a shut-in lol) but I have either very sad or 'dead' eyes

Not necessarily 'sad eyes', but if I'm not making any sort of expression people ask if I'm okay a lot, so my resting face must look quite sad LMAO

The first impression I left in the kids of my class in the beginning of high school wasn't the best: i was labelled "the depressed kid".
I never was good at masking as a teen, so even people who had no idea who I was would look at me and say I'm depressed.
I just look miserable to others Ig lmao.

Recently, yeah. A friend of mine told me I looked sad. It was just my regular face. Of the last few years.

I think I have resting sad face because I get asked if I'm ok. Of course, I lie and say I'm tired and didn't sleep well.

I was always told by surrounding people that i have a "sad" face. i guess when you are depressed, worry, anxious it will somehow affect your facial feature.

My mother once said that my overall demeanor was absolutely negative. However, I would say it's an external ups and downs. Ultimately, it's become so solidified over the years that I try to avoid any evaluation because I don't have the nerve to seriously deal with something as trivial as the evaluation of strangers.

But yes, I have sad eyes too.

more recently because ive stopped trying to be extroverted. been a social butterfly most of my life but when it gets too draining to socialize, ill withdraw completely but try to show a smile when I need to. I hate being told I do cus it comes with the 1000 questions and I just wanted to get back home by the time they've noticed

Yup, numerous times. Whenever I look at my childhood photos, I have to hold myself back from crying. Even as an infant, my eyes almost look like they're screaming in pain, begging to be noticed and for someone, anyone, to help.
Obviously, no one ever did until it was far too late, and it wasn't because of my eyes, but rather due to violent behavior that surprised everyone, despite them knowing exactly what I had been struggling with for many years.

Not necessarily, but the occasional "You should smile more" isn't anything new to me neither is the "Is everything okay" small talk that always leads to nothing, But I have a lady look at me for no more then a couple seconds and just flat out say to me "you look stressed, I can just tell by looking at you" which was pretty unnerving.

Someone once told me I look like I had been socked in the face every morning, don't know what that means but he told me it while I was showing him my eye bags. I still think of him.

👍 it's weird looking at my childhood. It was pure bliss. Now my eyes are soulless and have dark spots underneath. Guess I look the part.
