Have you ever been insulted but your parents before? Even a comment you happen to hear. Could be directly on indirectly. Or another family member.
If so have they ever apoligize for it?

Oh yeah...too many times to count if we are including implicit insults or just demonstrations of lack of respect. Or if we are including favoring one sibling over another. Yes. It's something I've identified as frequent and indicative of a very abusive dynamic even if it isn't fully acknowledged by society yet.

My mom insulted me pretty much all the time while I was growing up, and even now I still get insulted by her.
She has apologised for it, but the damage has already been done, and I will never forget.

Not excessively but yes. Sometimes just clumsily- a joke about my weight or appearance. They might apologise then but- they can't sincerely mean it because- they'll do it again and again.

Sometimes it's an impression that they have an idea of me that fits their perspective. Especially in comparison to step siblings. I think- to their mind- I'm the stupid one. It's also important for my step relations I think- to maintain the belief they are better.

So, they'll drop the odd derogatory comment like I worked hard in art but ignored all the other subjects at school. It's true my priority was art but, I still worked hard elsewhere. They are right that I'm not naturally good at maths and science but- ultimately, I got 10 GCSE's, none lower than a B and a pretty even split- A's and B's. So- I don't think I'm as stupid as they believe. My uni dissertation tutor actually thought I'd do a doctrate one day. Lol. That's kind of funny.

But yeah, plenty of cynical comments on how I live too. They're not wrong of course but, it's not exactly caring to take the piss out of it! I think that's how my Dad in particular though, deals with uncomfortable realities- everything becomes a joke.

Really though- I think it's kind of cruel. I probably was depressed in childhood. I was experiencing ideation by the age of 10. They would call me 'Eeyore' from 'Winnie- the- Pooh' in reference to my pessimism. Kind of funny but, not really.

I don't think it's kind to take the piss out of someone for being pessimistic necessarily. Especially not a child. Surely, a caring adult would try to establish why they had such a pessimistic and fearful perspective of the world. But then, I think our parents don't like to admit that they may have been the ones who messed us up!

As for other step relations- the very worst insults I've had from anyone. Covering all the bases- appearance, abilities, my future. Even a hope that my own family members would die! Before they worked out that accusing me of terrible things (I hadn't done) was even more disruptive and effective. Hence- why I developed ideation so young.

How about you OP? I'm guessing from other posts I remember of yours that you have experienced insults. I hope things get better for you too.

I have been insulted by my parents thousands of times in my life. So much so that their insults are now like an empty noise whistling thru my ears. They both regret ever giving birth to me, and they are right. I caused nothing but problems in my life and I never contributed with anything. My mother often used to say to me: I would have been happier if I gave a birth to a stone , than to you.

Is awful tbh. Idk but even if you choose ignore some comments is stuck there doe life and they say it enough you'll believe it.

Idk if they have any idea how hurtful a comment like that can be.

"I've always been told by my mother, I dont have common sense, Im dramatic, irresponsible, dont blame me."

Ofc I think the worst are : "So you remember to be on your phone but not placing things back where they are."

"You only choose what you want to remember."

"When you guys were little little you were so obedient."

"If something bad happens in your life, dont blame me."

"I cant wait to live on my own so I don't have to deal with any of this."

"I gave you food and paid for everything."
Happens ofnindont buy her her milk or even a specific creamer. I wish I was joking really.

If i dont have enough money for everything is my fault I didnt spend my money correctly even tho I keep writing a list and make a budget for every single check.

That was a long rant, sorry

Yes. And sometimes my mother would apologize afterwards. My father on the other hand wouldn't apologise for anything he did, ever in his life and made it very clear that I am a disappointment to him.

Countless times, whether they're angry or just slightly annoyed. Even been told by one of them to "just kill myself already" because "all I do is torture them by threatening it." And that wasn't even said by the worse of the two… the other one that I no longer live with once punished me for attempting…

In my family there's no such thing as apologies. However, the worst insults were mostly said behind closed doors. Cowards. I still don't understand why they think that if they close a door they can't be heard, especially when they talk in raised voices.

Anyway, I once heard a 'sorry' from my mother to my brother and it made me feel strange. It was as if there was some kind of family bond between them or something, I dont know. I felt a bit jealous and I would have preferred not to witness it, because ever since then, I've been convinced that I'm the only one whose birth they regret.

I'm pretty sure my mother hurled insults at me every day starting at age 5. Straight up calling me a little bitch when I was in kindergarten and moved on to insulting my body and (very normal) weight when I was a preteen.
