Out of all the jobs I've put into, one magically decided to get back to me. Two rounds of interviews went well, and all I had to do was a background check. Getting references, police checks, proof of citizenship and all that. All goes well but my references. I had to put two in. First two references they didn't allow since, 1: I can't put family members (I worked with my uncle for a bit) and 2: I worked with this other guy for too little. "Okay, fair enough. I'll get some others". They reject my other two references cause they're not "my mangers or superiors". Now the problem was that the place where I used to work had rotating managers. They get moved around to all different locations. So I really had no way of getting in contact with any of them, and considering I haven't worked at that place in a long while, they weren't exactly going to break their protocol and give my managers information to some guy that use to work there yonks ago. But I somehow managed to get the person working there to get me the information. How I did that I had no idea. I kept on getting "We cant give you that since it goes against protocol n stuff". But I really kept pushing and they eventually gave it to me. Thankful for the person who decided to break that protocol to help me out.
Then I get silence for about a week. Untill this morning I get a phonecall from the HR person or whatever. "Yeah *loud flemy cough* sorry I just got out of a meeting. *loud cough* We are no longer hiring for this role at (where i live) branch since we're moving the roles interstate."
Well fuck. What now. This is closest I've ever gotten to getting out of this slump of worthlessness and now its just gone like that. Really got no clue on what to do now. I really felt acomplished when I got that first email about the interviews and was riding that high up until today. Its really all come crashing down.
