Full hanging with dressing gown cord from stair bannister

Hi all,

I am planning to do the above tomorrow and have read somewhere that any knot around the neck will do. I was then going to tie a knot to the bannister before stepping down so my feet would not be touching the stairs. Is my understanding about the knots correct? I also tried a slip knot but that did not seem to tighten much. Any help would be highly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I do not have much knowledge when it comes to hanging. I know there is a megathread with a lot of information. Technically, I'd say no, every knot will not work because it's possible the knot will come undone and the individual will fall and probably not succeed in ctb. I would also believe that some knots are much more effective, so the individual loses consciousness faster, thus less pain or discomfort. Definitely check the thread.
