I've previously thought about CTB deep in a forest, so that nature can reclaim some of what I am.

I've seen the Vice video on the forest in Japan where everyone goes, and there was also a story about someone who did the same in Canada's north. A forest seems like a peaceful setting for it.

The idea of my substance rejoining nature, rather than decomposing alone and deep in the ground, appeals to me. I don't want to go to waste.

Yeah, don't want to be found, at least not for a while.

I'd have to go deep, so maybe a big national park or something.

I want nature to have time to do its thing and absorb me, for life to consume me, etc.

A hotel room seems easier, but then I end up in a hole in the ground too deep for nature to use me. I'd go to waste.

I'm also limited to summer, really, for the ideal forest experience.

I also like the idea of dying in a forest, somewhere peaceful and far away from any people. In an ideal world, I would love to just completely disappear, like I never existed at all.

I'd love to be liquidated and fed to the gulls at the seaside - I love gulls!

If I CTB in a hotel there is no return to nature- They just throw you in a box and bury you too far down in the ground for bugs to get you.

I think of hotel for some privacy, to not be caught before I'm passed, but a forest has this appeal of returning to nature.

I agree with you. What worries me about the hotel is a lawsuit against my family and in the forest I am worried about being found and saved because i will be using sn

not to discredit your idea about ctb in nature, but have you looked into natural burial options available where you live? You could ctb however you want and depending on legality and jurisdiction or whatever, they can bury you in a way where you naturally decay.

That is actually a really good idea. There are services where they wrap you in something to encourage mushroom growth and stuff like this.

Money is a huge barrier for myself, but if any has the means, that could be a really cool thing for CTB!

It's a lovely idea- I agree. Just not sure on the practicalities and whether these would actually benefit nature. Guess it depends on the method of suicide and what you take with you.

Presumably you will wear clothes and shoes and maybe have some supplies with you? A water bottle etc. Will these items easily rot down?

If you choose a firearm, this could be found (and possibly used) by someone finding it later on. If you choose to poison yourself, how will this affect animals that may scavenge your body? I guess hanging only leaves a rope.

So sorry- I didn't intend this to be an attack on your idea. I hope I haven't offended you. I think it's a lovely concept. I guess I just have such a negative view on our race and how we blight nature. Makes me wonder if we are even capable of a return to nature.

Not sure how beneficial human ashes are to nature. Could you be scattered somewhere nice? Think I'd like to be scattered in the ocean.

I've heard of people being buried alongside tree seeds. That seems lovely- to nourish a tree. Much nicer than a tombstone surely.

If it's any solace, even the ground reclaims you eventually. Coffins and concrete grave liners will not last forever. Everything is always reclaimed to the ground. but, I agree, a forest would be peaceful. I like the idea of being out there with nature. I think it would add a lot of serenity at the time of ctb.

If you're cremated and sprinkled don't you quickly become part of the intricate, moss, fungi, tree root system that all talks to each and stuff

No offense taken! These are more really good points.

I'd probably go by overdose mixed with booze. I'm not sure how this/could this affect any animals feeding on me. I hadn't thought of it.

I had thought of the return to nature ate the insect and microbial levels, more than anything.

Clothing is a good point. My clothing would need to be cotton, so as not to leave synthetic products that won't decompose.

This brings me back to a thought about how we are bad for the earth and other beings on so many levels- even in my exit I almost can't help but pollute!

I've thought about how the water in me would return to the water cycle if I was cremated. And the carbon and other particles that went up the stack would end up circulating in nature.

Mother nature sustains us in our lives, so I guess it's only fair we return back to her.

One part of me finds it creepy that animals will devour my dead body, yet I feel that in my final act I will be of use and provide sustenance for mother earth.

I really like this idea too. My plans in my mind always are in a forest. I really like the idea of not being found and so not traumatizing anyone. And I love nature and trees. I sat in a forest for a bit yesterday, it was nice. I live in Canada, so I feel like I have the whole country to choose from and chances are no one would find me ever.

I plan to freeze to death, so a forest is a good natural starting point for that. Plan is to drive out in the middle of nowhere, ditch the car, walk into the woods so I'm deep enough and just lay down.

I am also considering hiking out into a forest and poisoning myself with SN in a nice meadow or something. After hiking today, it seems quite a bit more desirable than the shed I previously planned to die in.

I'm in Canada, too. I feel like any of the big national forest parks, or anywhere in Northern Ontario/Quebec or Northern BC, should be adequate to not be found quickly.

I have found my tree in a remote forest. It is a former military training area, full of duds, warning signs say "enter on your own risk". Nobody will disturb me there and my hanging corpse will be bird food. It is only one hour by bicycle from my home, I can disappear without a trace.
