I've been logging in here less and less because...things have been getting better for me, I think? I don't know. I still struggle with my feelings, but I'm not as upset about certain things anymore. I guess time does heal all wounds or whatever.

Regardless, there's been something that I've been struggling with and it's leaving food in the fridge. I will buy/save food and let it sit in my fridge until it starts to rot. Not purposefully, but, after a couple of days or weeks, I'll realize 'Wait, I never cooked that chicken.' or 'Wait, I never drank that orange juice.'

I don't know. Does anyone else have this problem?

Lol I fully understanding. I moved out at home when I was 17.

If I can share my personal experience....

I stopped buying fresh fruit and vegetables when I was depressed.

I moved house to walking distance to the supermarket, and changed my cooking habits so I cooked daily.
Bought a lot of canned food, nothing complex

Cooking sucks

I used to do this constantly until I resolved the issue by becoming too poor to purchase food. Kidding aside, do you engage in meal planning? Doing so might help you keep inventory on what you have and when it needs to be used.

Congratulations on the improvements you're seeing in your life.

Try to budget a swap from plastic containers to glass ones, cleaning or microwaving them is waaay easier. It's a bit more expensive, but worth it.

Frozen veggies are great for living alone, and cooking extra and serving my dish plus a couple containers has fed me on bad days.

I personally only buy food that can be stored for a long time and/or eaten "straight away" after unpacking, with little to no preparation.
Only getting raw ingredients if I know I will use them today/tomorrow, with a specific dish in mind.
Also freezing things, everything I can. Almost every food *can* be frozen (though some will simply not taste good after), and I reheat it in a microwave cooker or a toaster. Honestly I would be fucked without the microwave which I realized while staying at my parents' house where they don't have it... Apparently reheating things on a pan or just anything that goes on the stove is too much effort for me sometimes but microwave is ok as it's only putting a plate in and pushing a button. Also some days when I'm feeling better I cook a bigger amount of something and freeze the remaining portions.
When I have no motivation to cook I mostly just live off canned food, instant noodles and stuff from the freezer

I had to stop buying in bulk once a week because I couldn't prepare/cook everything I was planning to.
Now I only buy ingredients for one cooking session and I wont cook very much so it doesn't end up rotting in fridge because I got bored of eating it.
Also the glass containers mentioned before, and a blender for smoothies helped a lot.

Yeah, I definitely understand where you are coming from.

My mom and I receive food from a generous church once a week and recently all the fruit and vegetables turned rotten quickly.

I felt so bad, my advice is to not get as much food and consume it regularly.

Personally, I have little to no hunger pangs but try to have meals when I can.
