I realize this may be a dumb question, is the saltiness of pure tablesalt comparable to SN? I ask because I'd like to explore a test run of salt if I can before I fully commit. This way I can become more comfortable with the idea as I get closer

Taste wise Sodium Chloride(salt) is probably comparable to SN but the effects would be vastly different and I wouldnt to go drinking 20 - 25 grams of table salt that would just make you very very sick. If your asking if salt is like salt, then yes salt tastes like salt and SN is toxic salt. I understand your reasoning behind wanting to acclimate yourself to grow more comfortable with the idea but be careful of consuming vast quantities of table salt while experimenting.

A high amount of salt can kill you or make you very sick. And for the smartasses that inevitably comment that killing you is the point or not a bad idea, it's not the point if someone is just trying to test something, and if dying were the point, there's actual SN.
I've tried drinking salt with water to test, it tasted very salty, and I had a lot of symptoms. I was trying to see what it would feel like. After about an hour I drank a lot of water to flush, and I had to rest for a couple hours.
If you do this, I'd recommend just swishing it in your mouth. I don't recommend ingesting it.

No offense not judging you, but what was the point of this post then? We each replied fairly quickly to say don't do this. To each his own I'm not complaining you didn't do anything wrong to me. Yes you can just flush with water and you'll dilute the salt in your system and should be okay depending on how much.

I did a saltwater "cleanse" years ago and ended up with stomach cramps for 30 minutes followed by horrible diarrhea. I don't recommend doing this.

I didn't see any point to not doing it if it wasn't going to kill me, and I needed to acclimate, as you said. Yes there's the risk of sickness but I felt it was worth doing. I made the post because I wanted to know if the taste was comperable, not whether or not I should do it.

How many grams of salt and ml of water did you use ? I'm thinking of just putting it in my mouth and spitting it out to see what the taste is like. I'm really hoping the antiemetics help me out because I can barely stomach alcohol. I did this before. Dissolved 25g of salt (which is a lot of salt) in 50ml of water and drank it. It was ok to drink. Didn't cause me any problems. I washed it down with a glass of water afterwards so I don't know if thats cheating. I didn't get any headaches.Last edited:
