I know there are two types of hanging methods one full suspension the other partial suspension.
But is it possible to have your legs in the air without breaking your neck? Like something you can't back out of but it doesn't break neck like the partial method but more lethal

breaking neck sounds scary to me :d

Full does not break your neck. That is short/ long drop. FS is like partial, just more sudden.

I don't know really much about long / short drop, but it is used in execution hangings, where the person being hanged, falls a pre-calculated distance, usually through a trapdoor. The sudden tightening of the rope causes the neck to break, severing the spinal cord, killing instantly. Considering that even executioners have botched these hangings, it is best to stick with partial or full suspension. I should add that short drop is more likely to end in suffocating to death, which you want to avoid.

On the flip side to this, if the drop distance is overestimated then there's also a chance you'll take your head clean off. Not the sort of scene I imagine anyone would want to come across.

Yes. Instant but gory. I'm sure whoever finds the body would be traumatized.

the drop distance to break the neck is based on how much the person weighs. In executions it's usually about 6ft. Personally the thought of the neck breaking makes me shudder. If I were to go by hanging it would be by being barely suspended (feet only just off the ground) I imagine unconsciousness would be achieved in 10-15 seconds due to inability to breathe and reduction of blood to the brain. Death a few minute later
