Childhood best friend killed himself a decade ago, ironically enough I don't think I ever go more than 2-3 days without him crossing my mind despite the fact that we hadn't spoken in years.

3 weeks ago there's this girl on Reddit I was talking to, she said she had a gun and was likely gonna catch the bus in the upcoming hours, thanked me for listening to her and claimed she'd message me if she changed her mind. She hasn't been active since.

I know ppl who died but somehow it doesn't mark me as much as people who ctb. Despite knowing how it feels,It doesn't deter me from ctb

The only one I know to have CTBed is the brother of a friend but that was more than 20 years ago and it happened in another country where they were both at uni. So, it didn't really affect me since I wasn't really close to him.

My cousin did. He had a disease (I believe ALS) and hung himself in the garage. To spare his wife from the pain of having to take care of him when he was sicker AND to stop his suffering. I only found out decades after the fact.

We don't talk about him. Because it's easier to move on. Which is why when I eventually CTB, I'm sure I'll be forgotten.

Wow interesting. I have a few questions. Do you know why these two brothers killed their family ? It's rare to see 2 brother murderers. I'm just curious about the backstory

What about the guy who tried to hang himself ? What went wrong ? Was he saved ? How did he end up paralyzed from the neck down ?

a mutual on an ed platform. death was confirmed by another irl of his, but then there were shady uncoverings about his identity not being who he said he was. pictures 'of him,' weight stats, name, etc, all debunked. dont remember anything about method. he was a really nice person though.

My grandpa killed himself before I was born, and my Aunt killed herself when I was in middle school. We had lived with my Aunt for a while, but my mom cut her off so I didn't get to see her before she died. It was hard and I wish I could have gone to her funeral, but her husband was the one who sexually abused me as a young child so I couldn't bare to go. I hope she's at peace now, and that it was actually her choice.

I was suicidal before my brother did it. I'm surprised he did it. What will people think when I do it too?

very very sadly yes. my close friend of 8 years but partner for 1's mum. I still love her because i was one of her last memories when she died and she always loved me. was like i understand it and i was one of the real ones. we were in the same ward once. also knew her for 8 years on and off. we were all going to ride motorcycles and listen to heavy metal and get a place somewhere. me her and my ex. i remember my ex waking up to the bad news the next room...

then i almost lost my dads friend. was very graphic and i saw it.

A boy in my high school threw himself on the tracks while students were waiting for their respective trains at the station.
I didn't see it happen nor did I know the guy.
Some people who had never spoken to him before would cry as if he was their brother. It bothered me because these people were mostly crying due to their fear of death rather than for the boy.
That's when I started to actually consider death more seriously. When i started consider ctb myself.

i found out my childhood best friend passed away a few months ago, around mid-2025. i hadn't been in touch with him for a long time, but it still hit me hard. my mother was best friends with his mother, and was devastated by the news - she'd watched him grow up and he'd been almost like a son to her.

at the time, my mother told me he'd suffered a heart attack in his sleep, but just two days ago she admitted he'd killed himself. through my mother's updates over the years, i was aware of a lot of what he'd suffered through, and i wasn't surprised to hear he'd ctb but i can't stop thinking about it. i hope he's at peace now.
