Sometimes, when people talk about suicide, it feels like a choice. Potentially a choice made from coercion, or circumstance, but it's a choice nonetheless.

To me, it's the end of a terminal disease. Death feels inevitable. It feels so certain, the idea that I will die young. It pains me to think that my parents will have to bury their parents and their baby within the span of a few years.

I think I will die soon. I don't know when, or how. It just feels like I will inevitably die young, and I don't know what to do.

The imagination is powerful. Almost anything feels certain until reality/action of ctb kicks in.

Depression can be a terminal disease for some people. Some people die from it (suicide), some go into remission and then end up getting it back, and others are put on drugs for the rest of their lives to prevent death (suicide in this case). But some people recover and never get depression again.

Suicide can be a choice like depression can be a terminal illness. I don't think everyone who commits suicide had depression. Some of them may have been depressed (the mood) and thought there was no other way and some may have been desperate to leave a situation (homelessness, abuse, etc) or try to avoid a situation (divorce, eviction, etc), but I don't believe that everyone who commits suicide was battling with depression months or years before.

(Also not saying that killing yourself because of depression is more of a 'valid' reason, I think these reasons (homelessness, divorce, etc) are valid reasons and I can understand why someone would choose to die at that point.)

I've been severely depressed for several years, and for several years I have felt that my suicide is inevitable. It's just a matter of when.
