Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

How do you know when a member has died? Do they tell someone their intended day if they have one and then leave a certain amount of time to hear from them in case they changed their mind or attempted but survived?
In most cases you can never be sure if the member has died. It is just assumed, as you hear nothing else from them after they have announced that they will ctb.

Sometimes a member will ctb while on call/texting another member, either not to be alone or in order to collect data as to how it's going (often in cases with sn) and then if nothing proves they're alive in the next days they are assumed dead. Other times, if a member hasn't been online ever since the day they made a goodbye thread, it's safe to assume they ctb. But we actually can't confirm with 100% certainty.
I have made it clear to those who are in my close circle that I do not want an obituary or announcement on Facebook or anything like that. They do not know that I have immediate plans but it is something I have talked about to them in the past. Ultimately it is up to them to do whatever they want and I understand that but I hope they don't.
Yeah, some members get close to other members and exchange personal information, so there's that. Other times, members may be video or voice chatting while going through with ctb. Every other scenario is speculation and many members may just leave the forum to recover or whatever without telling anyone or just a few people.

Fair point. Im glad I'm not the only one who's thought about this. I'd hope if there is an afterlife I'd get to reunite with some of you. Whether it happened by ctb or the regular day to day stuff.
Honestly I'd just love to give a lot of you a hug tbh if you'd let me. None of you deserve the stuff you've experienced and I bet a lot of you need that.
As for the question, there's no definitive way of knowing except in the rare cases a friend or family member logs on to annouce their departing, the rest is all speculation. Maybe wishful thinking but i like to hope some of those people who went silent or left the site went on to recover.
Thursday afternoon is my new date. If I chicken out then I'll be online later that day or the day after. If I fail and am admitted to psych then I'm guessing it'll be at least a week or two or more before I'm given access to my phone. If you don't hear from me again then you'll know I've been successful. I won't ghost you all if I survive.
