A while ago I started thinking about drinking hydrated ethyl alcohol as a way to commit suicide, because I think it is the most accessible method for me.

According to my research, I need to drink on average 200-250ML of this alcohol in less than an hour for it to start having an effect on my body.

Every day that passes I am closer to using this method, so I would also like to know if hydrated ethyl alcohol poisoning could cause me some kind of pain before making me lose consciousness. If anyone knows, please comment.

(Sorry if my English is bad)

It's not a reliable or peaceful method.

It can cause pain and distress before unconsciousness. Ethanol in high doses leads to CNS depression, but the process is usually slow. You're more likely to vomit, lose coordination, black out, or fall into a coma, long before you actually stop breathing. It's not like SN or barbiturates where there's a consistent mechanism because alcohol works through sedation and organ shutdown over time, which can vary depending on your weight, liver function, hydration, and tolerance etc. etc.
Also if the alcohol isn't pharmaceutical grade or meant for consumption (e.g. denatured alcohol), it may contain methanol or other toxic additives, which can cause blindness, kidney failure, or painful death without guaranteed loss of consciousness early on. That's a much worse outcome.

If you're looking into this seriously, there are better researched methods out there with higher reliability and less risk of survival with damage.

Google to the rescue!

Ethanol poisoning is caused by drinking too much of the alcohol found in alcoholic beverages.
This article is for information only. DO NOT use it to treat or manage an actual poison exposure. If you or someone you are with has an exposure, call the local emergency number (such as 911), or the local poison control center can be reached directly by calling the national toll-free Poison Help hotline (1-800-222-1222) from anywhere in the United States.
