Body Identification

I know this will seem ridiculous to some of you but a huge concern of mine is the ID process after I CTB. I will be in a hotel so when I'm found my body will be taken to the county morgue. Does anyone know if my drivers license will be sufficient ID for the county to release my body to the funeral home for direct cremation or will they require/drag my family to the morgue? That would be absolutely horrible. I do not want their last memory of me to be my dead blue corpse and neither would they.

Typically a relative would do this, they have to account for murder cases where people switch i.d.'s. It wouldn't have to be your whole family but one family member would likely need to do this.

Yeah, most likely next of kin will be asked to identify you. You could leave a note asking for them to be especially respectful of the process under the circumstances. To be fair though, even though its not pleasant there are much worse states to be identified in. Deaths are unfortunately ugly by their very nature. If you already have dna on file medically or through previous interactions with law enforcement it's not unrealistic that identification could be done that way but your loved ones may insist either way because, as you can imagine, it would be hard to just take someone's word for it without the closure of confirmation with your own eyes. I know how you feel though. I feel the same way and it's really informed my choice of method. To a large extent its held me back from going through with it for the time being. Alongside other factors.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to me. I was embarrassed to even post this so goodnto know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I like your suggestion of leaving a note asking for respect and I do have fingerprints, dental records and DNA on file but that's not guaranteed and then there's the closure for my loved ones. That's a big one I didn't consider. Ugh, this is stressing me out. Wish I could just fucking disappear.
