Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

It can take a while but as far as I'm aware nothing significant has changed. What can slow things down massively is the mining fee you choose. The lower the slower. It's always worth spending that little extra on transfer fees for peace of mind that it transacts soon as possible. I waited over 24hrs for a transaction once that was set and average mining fee. Frustrating and stressful.

It is always best to use a hardwallet if you can though.

What were you struggling with exactly? Was it the purchasing from an exchange and then moving to an external wallet?

Every time I try to get a crypto wallet, I'm asked for real life ID. Seems to defeat the entire purpose. And aren't hard wallets a small fortune?

If you don't have coinbase or another service like them that you set up with your bank account and ID, you will have to purchase BTC in other ways to get them to your electrum wallet. You can buy them out of machines in big cities, give a friend the cash and let him send it to you or use one of the sites where people sell BTC at an inflated price and you can pay them various ways.
