Help Best firearm for <21 in Washington State?

Lethality at close range is not about the gun, but the ammunition.
Highest possible caliber, and hollow point, would be the way to go for maximum damage.

Anything 9mm and up will do. You'll want to use JHP ammunition, at least 115 grain. Depending on the type of gun, you'll want to either go through the mouth or the temporal area. If you're using a handgun/pistol, and the barrel is too large, DO NOT attempt a mouth shot. Go through the temporal area.

You can do that if the barrel of the gun isn't too bulky. Like, in my case, I'm using a pistol. The barrel is bulky, but it's a powerful gun with adequate ammo. Therefore, attempting through the mouth increases the chances of a misfire. This could paralyze me without killing me. I don't want that. That's why I'll have to go for a tempol shot. It's a kill shot from point blank range 90% of the time. That's good enough for me. Plus, I don't want to leave too grotesque a mess. Some shotguns have bulky barrels as well, and they can be awkward when trying to do a mouth shot.

I think a shotgun has a lower chance of survival than a handgun, but it's going to make a mess. Keep that in mind if you think a family member will find you. Well, sure they survived if they fired in the wrong place. My nephew used a .22 to the tempol and died. Kate Spade used a fucking scarf. If you don't know what you're doing, the chances of surviving are increased dramatically. Handgun or shotgun will kill. That's what they're designed to do.

Unless I've been mistaken this whole time, and the human is actually borderline invincible.

There's a decent stretch of wooded area somewhat nearby (suburban Washington) so I don't believe that it'll be my family that stumbles upon me, but I do appreciate the concern … I guess it's only fair to minimize the gore of the scene (though it's going to be bad regardless) — would putting a plastic bag or something do anything for that, or just complicate my suicide? I'm more partial to a revolver, and you don't need a super high caliber, I think just a .38 special with suffice, but definitely not a .22. I'm not sure about the shotgun, it seems more prone to failure because you might just blow your face off and then that's a real problem trying to live the rest of your life without a face. (That's happened and you can find pictures).

(Also the shotgun's going to leave a huge mess behind, I would be more into the aesthetics of just keeping the damage inside as much as possible so the crime scene cleanup crew has less to do, but that's just me.)

generally because sometimes it will miss the brain and blow the skin of the face off and/or neck tissue off and leave you paralyzed but not dead, if you go for a shot to the side of the cranium or forehead it will hit the brain and almost certainly kill.

9mm and up. JHP, not FMJ. THAT is what will do the job. Shotgun if you want to. But 9mm and up. That's gospel.

But the greater the mess, the greater the effectiveness. Don't you think so? Shooting the temporal area is not as accurate as shooting the mouth, I think. Think you can't position a large rod well in your mouth?

It's not complicated. Don't let closet pro-lifers scare you. Do your own research and choose your best method. Most of the people on here live in places where firearms are either illegal or difficult to acquire. Do the research and use your best judgement.

There are pro-lifers in this post too. Is it sensible to recommend shooting out of the mouth? It is the type of gunshot that causes the most irreversible accidents.

get a 9mm or above ammo and aim for the side of the head when you do it, that's the best advice i can give you for highest chance of lethality

Been viewing pictures of people who went out the same way and it just kind of sucks — I want to be successful (of course) but leaving behind that huge mess for someone to find doesn't feel fair lol… I know "I won't be around to care," but is there any way to minimize the aftermath? By tempol shot I guess u mean aiming at the brain stem or slightly hii from the side of the head around the ear? Cause what u have to take out is the brain stem

I know what you meant . Just trying to help. I think one has to hit the Brain stem or slightly above for higher probability . Its around the ear . If u hit the brain stem or it's veins there is no way survival is possible

This is why I will use a rifle or shotgun to explode my whole head

I've done my research. And quite frankly, discussions like this only serves to put doubt into someone. Only someone who doesn't know about guns or shooting would be taken in by something like this. This is just a stalling tactic that I won't fall for. I'm not trying to pick a fight, but I've chosen my method and helped out the OP with the best advice I can give them. It will be up to the OP to do their research and choose the best method. I'll leave the biology lessons and not-well-thought-out method discussions to some of the posters on this site.

hey im in wa state too and im in a similar position. Do you ever worry that the people at the gun store will be unwilling to sell you ammo? Im pretty anxious and i come off as suspicious and shifty when i am. I'm terrified they would do a wellness check or something on me and my family would find out. I want to go to sportsmans warehouse after work one of these days but im scared someone would know me from work and everyone would think im gonna shoot them?

idk probably just paranoid.
