It can be either their personality or their struggles. Maybe you see a little bit of yourself in them?

Soooo many. It would take too long to name all of them but one that is worth mentioning is definitely kaneki ken from tokyo ghoul. Ik a lot of people shit on that anime but i watched it at the perfect time in my life during which i could just relate to the main character so much. What about you?
Also just btw maybe this post would be more suited in off topic rather than suicide discussion.

I can relate to Sensui Shinobu and Younger Toguro from the Yu Yu Hakusho series. The first guy is on my profile pic. I mean I don't agree with everything they said and did and some of their ideas were kinda fucked up but I think there was a lot of things that I could take away from them and agree with to where I could relate a lot to what they were struggling through and not see them so much as villains but just broken people making broken choices.

It would take me quite the road to follow up on the count of creations I genuinely relate to.

There are two in specific I don't wish to mention for personal reasons, but they speak, and introduce their identity as if I was created by stone from them.

They come from an old game created a couple years ago, never been that popular if I'm honest.

They only got recently a bit popular these two years.

Though they are not known.

Christine Chubbuck. She was a real person, but they made a movie out of her her life called Christine. It's a haunting portrayal of depression, but knowing she was a real person adds this extra layer of sincerity to it. It's like staring into a mirror whenever I watch the movie.

Ah you're right my bad. For some reason I didn't think to post it there.

As for characters, it's honestly a lot. I'll just talk about Neuvillette from Genshin Impact. (Yes yes I know make fun of me now.)

Neuvillette is the judge of the nation he's from. He is a seemingly serious and aloof man, but deep down he wants to understand human emotion better (since he's not human himself). He struggles to express himself emotionally and doesn't really understand his emotions too much. Despite that though, he's honest and kind. His time observing humans exposed him to a range of emotions, which helped him a bit to understand himself. He really does try his hardest for his people but it's pretty obvious this drains him since it usually rains after a trial's conclusion. (The game makes it clear that whenever it rains, he's crying.)

I struggle with emotions too. It's pretty hard for me to pinpoint and explain what I'm feeling. I'm not even sure my emotions are real sometimes. What if I'm just making them up? What if I'm only acting out emotions to seem "normal"? I just feel an overall disconnect between my "emotions" and my "self" (my thoughts and actions, the way I see things, my way of being). Because of this, I typically analyze and "test" the reactions of others to see what's standard. It's not that I can't feel, I just don't know how much I have to exaggerate my emotions to seem passable. It's pretty draining.

Sorry I ended up writing an essay. Seeing people express themselves emotionally in any way is fascinating to me. I thought I would try a bit of it as well.
The character in your profile picture is one of my favorites from that game.
I like her a lot too. She did so much for her people and suffered so much yet didn't get acknowledged for it. She didn't even get a "thank you" or an "I'm sorry". I hope we get an event where people could appreciate her efforts.

I relate with walter white, a man who spent his entire life in a boring job and living in the shadows, but found meaning doing meth, because it was the only thing he was good at. I'm pretty much the same, except I'm not good at anything. But I'd be willing to sacrifice myself for something im the best at. Isn't that what others call the "meaning of life" ? living it to the fullest by doing what you love most? Even though he did something illegal and caused so much chaos, the only moments he truly felt emotion was when he started doing meth.

There is a manga called Boy no Abyss and all the main characters are relatable. Btw, this is the most depressing manga I know and realistically portray crippling depression. Theres little to no hope in the characters lives, so a lot of readers can't swallow it and resorts to shallow minded criticism by calling it "edge". But the truth is that a lot of people live in that state of hopeless. There is nothing edge in faithfully representing a depressive state that so many people are living now.

Mimito Sakurano from Denonbu, in almost every way. I refer to her as myself to cope, as I find a lot of comfort having a character to relate to this much.

Been meaning to get into that show since I heard that No Longer Human is referenced. I really like the book so hey I might like the show. Even if it's completely different.

100% Daria Mongendorfer🖤 and Jane Lane🖤 from the animated series Daria broadcast on MTV from 1997 to 2002

Quotes:

-Have you ever had the feeling that you are wasting your life?
- Only when I'm awake.

- Let's promise Daria right now that we will make her dream come true!
- The one in which all people burst into blue flame?

— Do you think the joint process of irritating parents is the basis of a relationship?
- It worked for Romeo and Juliet!

I'm locked up because I'm sure the world has been taken over by a race of imbecilic aliens.

Don't worry. I don't have low self-esteem, it's a mistake. I underestimate everyone else.

I can only be in a group of one member.

Daria, understand, we will never succeed. I need a normal job. Yes, and you need money to remove tattoos. How can you not understand? Every time I look at these tattoos, I remember how I wasted my life. But I won't give up. I'll lie on the couch until the situation changes.

Congratulations, you must have worked really hard to become such an asshole so quickly.

I think it would be bad form to hang myself in front of everyone...

It turns out that you can be intellectually developed and a moral monster at the same time.

- Aunt Emmy, tell me, is life all so pretentious, stupid and humiliating, or is it just such a phase?
- It's just a phase. I'm just waiting for it to finish.

No life. No hope. No future.

—What animal do you identify with?
- With a bat. I always dreamed of hanging upside down and spreading deadly diseases.

- With your negative attitude towards others, you destroy yourself.
- Well, at least I can destroy someone.

I LOVE Daria, it's definitely a comfort show for me.

I find Jane and Daria's friendship so reassuring, I wish I had a friend I could just do things with consistently like that. Everybody I know just seems so scattered in terms of hanging out and stuff, it's been so hard to connect with people nowadays, especially since I feel like people are so disingenuous and always have ulterior motives.

For me this is gonna sound so stupid but I love and relate so much to Spongebob Squarepants, most people relate with Squidward which is totally fair, but Spongebob's loudness and just the need to be silly if something I wish i could be free to be.
On the other hand Tomoko Kuroki was one of the first characters in media where it hurt to see myself in.

Perhaps it sounds silly, however, I always thought Leo Tsukinaga from Ensemble Stars was very relatable. In game, he's a character who's very loud, and childish seeming to a point it confuses and even angers people, but is cheery and genial to even people who mistreat him because he's stuck in the past in a way. Though, because of his extremely impulsive demeanor, and the fact he has no issue yelling at people, a lot in the game don't tend to realize he just wants everyone to be happy in the end. He says he never had any friends growing up except for one person, and that no one but him ever made him happy back then, that even if it was only for a moment he thought someone loved him and he could say he was happy to be alive. But Leo wasn't really happy back then, as it's implied in game he was self harming, and became a hikikomori at some point. He threw everything he loved away, but only came back to his group he created because they were his only regret.

I never read the book, but yozo from "no longer human" by osamu dazai. I have read summaries and excerpts from it, and I can relate.

In the book, the character falls on purpose in school so that others will laugh at him. I also had a bad habit of buffoonery to get a laugh from others in high school. I was called a clown by my math teacher because of attention seeking jokes.

The book is said to deal with loneliness, isolation and depression, as well as feeling human and connected. I've had a hard time connecting with others my whole life, and I've witnessed others around me do it naturally. So, I can relate to yozo.

Just finished a rewatch of House and I definitely relate to him. Stubborn about what he believes, miserable but can make almost everything a joke, can't be bothered to do work unless it is interesting (challenging) enough, leans on crutch (Vicodin) and distractions.

Been thinking a lot about when Wilson tells him: "you admire yourself, but you don't like yourself." I feel that deep in me.

For me, Alison one of the main characters in BBC sitcom Ghosts that I discovered a few months ago.

I have had loads of different jobs/locations/tribes/travels etc etc in the past. A combination of temp/seasonal contracts and straight up failed/quit 'real' jobs and all their associated colleagues and people and locations and environments. I feel like I've reached a point if I try to use past experiences/memories to make a decision, I just see all these random characters popping up from these past jobs/lives/groups all with contradicting advice/opinions that often get me stuck. Just like Alison/Button House's Ghosts.

On bad days they just pop up in random places with totally inappropriate judgements. Others they can actually be sort of helpful comments/advice.
