Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

the industry im in is tiny. everyone knows everyone and sometimes it leads to situations like this one:

i had a recruiter call for a job role i learned my friend became suicidal over. they are super talented and work really hard. so i wasn't surprised they landed this job quickly after graduating. i was really happy for them. they stayed at this company for less than a year before burning out. my understanding is that they had a lack of boundaries/had trouble saying no so they kept taking on tasks that eventually overwhelmed them. like it fucking sucks they got to that point but i also felt weirdly comforted that they had the same impulse crash-out of going to the train tracks and thinking of jumping and attempting to take a gazillion advils/claritin to OD.

lmao when stress is involved we really aren't that different after all.

you might be asking "okay this sounds awful. why are you interviewing for this opening then?" bc MONEY.
if i can hold out for a year 1/2 ill be able to wipe my grad loan debt in one go and have some leftover before CTB.

i have to get past the final rounds tho. wish me luck.

I can relate to becoming suicidal over jobs. Seems to happen with every single one I've ever had. Sucks your friend went through this but I hope the job works out better for you until you can get your debt taken care of. Good luck!

My industry is similar, there's little wiggle room and a lot of competition. Despite how it might look on the surface plenty people developed chronic illnesses out of stress, triggered a dormant auto-immune disease, burnt out so bad they ended up in the hospital because of this job. The hyper precarity of it is a huge contributing factor. Yet we keep applying cause that's our specialty and we're qualified for little else due to having spent so many years studying for it, practising for it. Yes, its a joke. And nobody's laughing.

To be honest with you, the thought of me moving on further in life is kinda scary too. Like, not exactly scary, but like, the feeling of my carefree life going away and I move on into a more serious life with tons of work is kinda scary to think about. Of course, I'm ready for anything, but at the same time it's just a lot to think about you know? I actually have one time thought about how suicide would basically get rid of that problem, but then I got rid of that thought immediately since well you know I am not really a suicidal person at all, but I do love to think about suicide all the time.

But really though, good luck in what you're doing, and I that the best happens with you. Again, stay safe, and good luck bro.

good luck man. but to be honest keep your eye open for something else. like the moment you are done there drop straight away. dont think you should make archievement in that company. it will go into drain. but its always possible for something better to pop up. focus on a new place that is better while trying to surive this company and archieve something there

A friend of mine killed herself over Centrelink stress (Centrelink is Australia's social security/welfare department, notorious for their bullshit). Her payment was suspended unexpectedly so she called Centrelink in distress, and they hung up on her.

I was on welfare too, and literally a few days after her death, my job coach found me a job answering the phones for Centrelink. I had to accept the position or my payment would be revoked. The first day of training, they explained that a lot of "customers" (welfare recipients) will be suicidal, and the correct thing to do is hang up on them.

I immediately quit in anger, and I told my job coach they fired me. The whole situation was like a badly written dystopian satire.
