Anyone have a plan to slit their wrists? Sorry I screwed up the title of my previous thread. This is what I wanted to ask.

I failed to CBT with pills and alcohol twice. I really can't screw up the next time. I plan to SN but the more I research and learn it seems too hard to to source. That totally sucks. Now I've got a look to methods that are more painful like slitting my wrists or hanging myself. Does anyone have advice or can they share a plan for how they plan to slit their wrists?

According to a study from Harvard called "Lethality of Suicide Methods", cut/pierce has a 1.2% success rate and suffocation/hanging has a 61.4% success rate. There are other details to check into, but full suspension has a lot higher success rate than partial but full suspension can also be a lot harder to do and it can be a lot more stressful. Settling on a method is not easy. My personal choice is Sn, if that fails twice then maybe full suspension.

Thank you, that's helpful to know. It's depressing but it's helpful to know. I want to do full suspension hanging but I don't have anywhere to hang a rope that could bear my weight. Would you mind sharing the success rate for pills and alcohol?

You can do a search on google by "lethality of suicide methods" and this study will be near the top as and many other sources as well. Pills have an estimated 1.5% success rate- pills and cutting are seen in movies a lot but rarely work in real life. It is very difficult to find a method that works well, it usually takes some research and compromise and risk- you have to balance everything. Sn seems like the best option that is available to me, but all methods have plusses and minuses. WHen pills do work it is usually a powerful opiod such as fentanyl.

Avicii was a Swedish musician, quite famous, lots of his songs were on the radio when I was in hs. He slit his throat, which would probably be more effective, but either way it takes an incredible amount of willpower to ctb this way, and like most other here I wouldn't recommend it

I was just about to do that, one problem, you need something to numb the pain and cut really good and deep. Best in the water, then wound won't close so fast. Then, it's a good chance you'll succeed.

Wow he sliced his own throat. I've thought about that but was worried I'd do it wrong. At times I feel so desperate I think I could do it. I know I'd hang myself if I could find a place. I'm considering a tree. I know my family would suffer finding me but they don't have to suffer like I will in my life. I think I'm going to have to do a tree.

Don't do it. It doesn't work most of the time and you'll be left with scars. I saw a picture of someone who had done it successfully, and it looked like they had cut an inch and a half into their wrists. That's rough to go through with.

Some people who do this survive but then they can't use their hands normally- you always want to consider the downside risk of any method- what could the damage be if it doesn't work?

I've had these feelings too. It feels awkward, wanting so desperately to die but it being so damn difficult. you could text or dial emergency services your location right before you do it so your family aren't the ones to find you, that's what I would do.
