Any way to safely get a handgun in France ?

I didn't think N would be so impossibly expensive and SN's potential suffocating scares me... A gun would feel much safer. I'd like to have the option at least.

Also I didn't know what a berthier was but it's too big. I need a handgun.

I live near France and where we live you can't have a gun without a license so you can get a sporting license or try to get someone to sell it to you, but the black market is risky. It would be my method 1 if were possible get it.

A sporting licence wouldn't allow me to get a handgun anyway I think, it's probably for hunting rifles. Not that I think I could do that in my current state but.

I know it's risky but some common people seem to have their way...

I have no idea how I might get one so unless someone can help I'm stuck with my untested SN...

Now if there was a way to get N for a more reasonable price I'd definitely go for that.

I'm looking at private sale sites but the handgun seems difficult, there are shotguns but not exactly what I'm looking for. I think n price is reasonable considering you breaking free, however, you might consider looking for it on the black market but a handgun there is probably more expensive than N

Really ?! How expensive are these things...

Is it me or prices have exploded lately ? I remember looking into buying N a couple years ago and it was already super expensive for me but only a couple hundred euros / dollars so maybe if I managed to save money for a while I could get it, but now it's over a thousand ???!! That's completely impossible...

I do not know about handguns, but my guess would be, that some bigger guns (what they use in the war) should be obtainable in Ukraine (both in terms of availability as in terms of attitude). Getting there from France is neither expensive not complicated. As long as you do not intend to leave the country with the weapon again, and fit into certain image (male, running around with some pseudo military clothing) I would travel to some areas where they were handing out weapons, but which are far away from the battlefields. So eg. Kiew. Then try it to buy it there.

You can make up a story, like that you want to go fighting alone, because the legions did not want you, or just that you want to buy it to shoot around in the forest for fun. The nice thing is, that with a nice story, you might even get help on the internet from some gun or war freaks and do not have to get involved with some "real" criminals. You should get along with English and even if you would not know where to start, at least before the war, there were various pubs with strong national elements.

I disagree. I tried to be realistic. During and after the balkan wars, a lot of weapons ended up on the European black markets, there are enough reports about this. Simple arbitrage, if one does not want to leave that country with a weapon.

Fighting in a war, irrespective of side, ideology, motives or even the will to die is a completely different thing. I would even claim, that joining an army contradicts the initial purpose. I see (the potential) suicide as the the ultimate right of choosing whether to live or to die. Having maximum control. In contrast, if you join an army, you will not have this choice. Other people decide, what risks you take or not. You would not be able to back off, you would not be able to decide to rather die than be wounded or vice-versa.

in other words: I was referring to buying weapons from crooks and potentially using them to fulfil a single purpose vs. some complex combination of qualification, training and uncontrollable risks and outcomes.

You have to know a person irl to get a gun, don't expect to get a gun on an online black market or dark net because that doesn't exist. Who might help you with getting a gun is something I really don't know, if I knew I would've shot myself ages ago
