Anxiety is killing me

I volunteer at an animal shelter And this morning I emailed the volunteer coordinator that I couldn't come in due to back pain (only half true, honestly). I knew the other volunteer would be coming in and only one volunteer was really needed because there are only 3 dogs right now. The lady never emailed me back. I also got a missed call from an unknown number but no voicemail. Everything is probably fine but WHAT IF the other lady didn't come in and the dogs didn't have anyone to take them out?! The volunteer coordinator usually emails me back right away. What if I am in huge trouble and a terrible person for leaving the poor dogs!? Waiting for this email is making me so suicidal I can't stand it. Why did I do that!? Why am I such an idiot!?

That sounds very stressful what you are going through. You did send an email to say you were not going to be there though, so I do not think you are a terrible person. Anxiety can be awful, I'm sorry you are in this situation. I wish you the best.
