• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

god it hurts having nothing........and it's worse when it feels like its being rubbed in your face..

try to google about some lgbt thing "go find your own ancestors!!!"
run across it in groups of my spiritual groups "connect with your ancestors"

I WOULD IF I COULD BUT I CANT!!!!!
theres me, myself, and i.
i know absolutely nothing about "my heritage" and i never will.
not all of us have healthy families that talk

"oh just get one of those dna tests"
you mean those ones ill probably never trust as being 100% accurate so there will always be doubt anyway, rendering it pointless?

thats all...... i was/am just feeling alone and wanted to get it out......

Sometimes you can get a copy of your birth certificate from the county were you were born. It may have the birth dates and locations of where your parents were born. Sometimes it is difficult to get a birth certificate from a county for someone else, but these are supposed to be public records so sometimes you can. Once you have your grandparents names, birth dates, and locations you may be able to find a branch of yours that overlaps someone else. If you are lucky they have done a lot of research and you can profit from they work they have already done.

If you have an unusual name it is a lot easier to research than if you are "John Doe". A guy at a county library was able to help me and pointed me to ways to search old newspaper items as well. You can run into dead ends on some branches, but for the ones you are able to follow, it can be interesting to learn ore about the times these people lived in Sometimes you discover people than made a mess of their lives which can leave you sad.
