A bit of irony that the abbreviation for Survival instinct (SI), is the same as Suicidal ideation (SI)

Just thought the fact that they are essentially the polar opposite of one another yet share the same abbreviation used here frequently, was a nice example of lifes dark humor. In fact when I first got on SS I was very confused by all these post saying they couldnt go through with CTB because their (SI) kicked in, which I understood up until that point meant Suicidal Ideation. I mean I thought, wouldn't that have made them more likely to CTB? Anyway, its clear now what they meant was survival instinct, lol.

Yes, it is very ironic. It can be difficult to overcome the survival instinct as even know we want to die we are programmed to survive. The survival instinct can be determined to keep us suffering. People can be suicidal for a long time and yet still be held here by a powerful survival instinct, more than anything I wish that suicide was easier.
