Thank you for posting this, I will take a look at the essays. Finns are known for their joyful nature haha - so maybe this will cheer me up, I badly need some respite.

On a more serious note, I see that the author suffers from the same illness as I do (ME/CFS) so this should be interesting. I just hope the essays are not written in the same vein as the quote below:

No matter how sick you are, you can get better. It is all about being informed. Get the ball rolling now!

No, please, don't!

Thank you! I will give them a read.

Side note/ Something that seriously bothers me is when I hear people say that suicide is the easy way out of your problems and is cowardly.

Attempts at ending my life have been extremely difficult for me mentally and something that takes a huge amount of courage. It's heartbreaking that pro-lifers have the nerve to call people cowards for wanting to put an end to their insufferable pain.

This bothers me too. Suicide is probably the most terrifying thing anyone can do. It takes a huge amount of courage and is in no way an easy way out.

it is terrifying I wonder if the pro-life bullies feel better about themselves when they call someone a coward for putting a gun to their head. Just (wow) on their part

Suicide IS the easiest way to end your suffering....but that's not a negative, and it does not mean that it does not take courage to committ the act itself ! You have a right to end your suffering, no one is going to tell you "wow, you're such a hero" when you fruitlessly battle on, spending every moment of your life in great pain ! And if the pain simply cannot be made to go away, than it's the most logical, sensible thing to terminate it by taking your life.

Nice essays. They lack any depth though. If you put together a random selection of threads on this forum you end up with more or less the same content.

"A" for effort.

I disagree. I don't find therapy that hard or painful it just doesn't work.I could easily become a burden on others whether that be the state or my family and not have to go through the fear and pain of suicide. It's not easy or the easiest way out.

Well I don't agree with that. I think staying alive even in very undignified, horrible circumstances is easier for most people than killing themselves. And I also don't agree with your second point: society does indeed applaud and value 'overcoming' or bearing a lot of suffering. For every promortalist or pro-euthanasia book there are 1000000000000 books like the one by Viktor Frankl, who thinks that going through the horrors of the holocaust can somehow give your life purpose. It's quite the opposite actually, no one applauds a rational suicide early on in the game.

You are right but they are very accessible and that's what I like about them. They are written for people new to these ideas and I hope will give the ones I leave behind some perspective.
