I think buckshot is even more devastating at a point blank range, or at least the same, plus you have this explosive shock wave that obliterates your cranium. At point blank range buckshot wont disperse that much and will act as a single chunk of lead anyway

The effect has to do with the apparent surface area of all of the projectiles. #4 buck is better than #1 buck which is better than 00, which is in turn better than a slug. No birdshot or smaller.

I doubt that there would be much of a difference at close range. The buckshot wouldn't have time to spread and would probably be very similar to a slug close up.

i dont get why people recommending 00 buckshot than if it doesnt spread right a way
