Today I read about a story of a young man who has taken Zyprexa(Olanzepin) for few years. Then he taper down. But although he tapered down when he was zero he got insomnia. After 4 month with total insomnia, he committed suicide!

Someone here who was successful with withdrawing Zyprexa?

Zyprexa is insanely painful to come off of.
I was on a high dosage for around 3-5 months and had had enough of the sleepiness and decided one day to stop taking it all together.
I didn't sleep for days and my skin felt like it was being torn inside out - my head hurt insanely bad and my vision was all kinds of messed up.
I couldn't stand, eat or drink. Even warm water felt ice cold. I eventually passed out on the floor at work from forcing myself to get out of bed and got taken home by family.

The inability to sleep is insane and my sleep has never been the same since I was on a daily dosage of zyprexa.
Its probably ruined my sleep forever. I started abusing zzzquil to the point of vomiting just to get 8 hours of sleep.
I'm on lunesta for sleep now and combined with 10mg melatonin, 10mg saphris and other meds that cause drowsiness I'm able to sleep.
If I skip my meds, I skip sleep. Unless I drink myself into a blackout.
I'm still prescribed zyprexa but its as needed and 10mg. Everytime I feel a psychotic episode coming on I take one or two through the day.
But this causes me to sleep nearly 16 hours every time.

I am in the process of eliminating Zyprexa and Quetiapine.

It is unfortunate that these types of medications can lead to such intolerable withdrawal symptoms.

I am definitely having trouble sleeping, but I do feel better overall.

I have been using Benadryl to help me sleep, though it doesn't seem to be doing much good.
