If I somehow managed to survive 300ml of N in the UK, would I be sectioned under the mental health act? I'm worried that if I do survive, that i'll be put into a mental health institute and I'll be stuck in there for weeks / months / years. I am going to tape a note to myself saying 'do not resuscitate', but I will be devastated if I fail. Anyone else have the same thoughts / fear?

If they suspect you tried to kill or harm yourself, it's pretty likely you'll get sectioned.

sorry to hijack this thread but I didn't want to start yet another thread on the topic.

Lately I've been getting bombarded with calls from several mental health outlets. Long story short, a few weeks back I made a pathetic attempt at taking my own life. A drink and drug fuelled feeble attempt. No research put into it whatsoever. I was sectioned temporarily but talked a good talk and got released fairly quickly.

My question? Can anything come of these calls if I continue to ignore them? Some of my family know I'm struggling but that's about it.

*edit. I should probably state im in the UK.

This is my fear, I'm proving right now that struggling with this I'm still managing daily tasks and my children have everything they need. But im worried that a failed attempt will end in me being carted off and them being put in care, yet another of the million things I have to put before myself

I was told that if I ignored the calls from the crisis team they would "absolutely follow up with a home visit". As it is they didn't even call me until I was referred a second time so I have my doubts…

But they might come round if they are sufficiently worried about you.

That was my fear.

OK, I better take the call and talk a good talk again.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

This is a difficult one as what they should do is do a home visit if they cannot contact you but with the way our mental health system is in the UK they possibly wouldn't
