Would antique firearms be viable?

I don't know the laws regarding it here. Gov. here defines an antique firearms any black powder firearm produced before 1890, or one that is chambered in a caliber the government says is obsolete. Idk. Are there things one should worry about. I imagine most of these guns are blackpowder. I hear it can be volatile etc. is there something one should worry about when considering it.

Reliability. Those guns definitely killed things. People and animals. But they're old as fuck and were never super reliable in the first place. Research their caliber and stuff too. I wouldn't want to shoot my self with a 9mm if I could shoot my self with a shotgun, you know what I mean? Damage is probably pretty localized in an old black powder gun, doesn't mean it couldn't kill you, just might be a "longer" experience… I think for example in US civil war (musket riffles) people died of infection, blood loss, etc way more than directly "immediately" from gunshot… wouldn't be ideal… do lots of research.

I don't know. I live in the land of easily obtainable assault rifles lol. Except I am now legally forbidden from buying or owning firearms, so. Any modern hunting rifle will absolutely kill you fast if you do it right though. I'd trust it more than some antique thing.

In US most people can buy damn near any gun without much reason at all. "Protect my home" suffices having 10 high powered rifles. Felons can't own/buy firearms though. Nor people involuntarily committed to psych ward though there might be an eventual appeal process for that but mine is too recent. Antique firearms are no different than any modern gun, legally.

Only speaking for me, obviously, I would be too afraid of CTB by using a firearm for fear of not getting the job done and then being left in a condition whereby I was unable to even attempt some other method. It has happened and does happen. You know "flinching" is real and what the mind tells the body to do may be involuntary and out of your control. That's all it would take, a slight flinch at the moment of squeezing the trigger. Then you may end up seriously wounded, unable to speak, talk, move at all and unable to attempt any more "bus catching" on your own. That may be a worse way to be than right now. Only you can judge that. Just my 2 cents.

Oh, on an aside, its-about-time stated that felons can't own/buy firearms. Legally true, yes. But, practically true, not so much. They buy/acquire/own guns every day in this country. All kind of loopholes in the laws and nefarious ways of acquiring firearms.
